Re: how do i keep track
I downloaded the iperiod app (free) and have used that to track af, dtd, etc. I wanted to learn more about my irregular cycles and try to pick up patterns even before we were actually ttc. It has been really helpful and it also tracks your stats as far as cycle length etc

I recommend temping and an OPK. Chart your temps on a site like fertility friend. If you have irregular cycles, this is the best way IMO.

I have been using the p-tracker lite app on my iphone. It is really helpful- It tracks cycle length and predicts when you will ovulate.

how do i keep track
I would DEFINITELY recommend using extra protection from now until August regardless of when you O. DH and I weren't using extra precautions, weren't thinking I was even going to O the first month off the pill and BAM... got pregnant (had a subsequent early MC). I would keep it simple at first. I haven't gotten AF yet after the MC, but I'm not planning on temping or doing much of anything just yet. I think if after 3 -6 months of not getting anything, then I might start temping. I just don't have the patience for it and give you ladies who do a whole lot of credit. I think I'd use the O-predictors before I temped...

I actually am using fertility friend also.. and am very thankful that I did. I'm off the pill but really don't want to conceive till August/ September. I just wanted to be off and use this time to get healthy. I was tracking my temperature and it looked like I ovulated really early on- like 5 days into my cycle.. and now that I'm back on my real cycle without the pill I learned I only have a 22 day cycle, my period only lasts 2-3 days and I ovulate on day 5- So it's helpful for the next month or 2 knowing what days to avoid-- and it will be helpful after that knowing what days I'm fertile.

I would still recommend using some form of protection other than the rhythm method the next few months if you are dead set on not getting preggo now.

Re: how do i keep track
I'm not set on it- I really want to get pregnant so if it happens it happens BUT with my work schedule getting pregnant at the end of summer would be ideal bc I can take maternity and go right into summer break so I'd have more time off.

Gotcha, yeah, cuz DH and I did it the other way and got preggo (had a mc, but still, got preggo). We only did anything twice and neither time would have seemed to be around my O day...

You take your temperature with a Basal Thermometer every morning before you get up. You can't really move too much before taking it so you leave the thermometer on a nightstand and just pop it in your mouth as soon as you wake up and it must be at the same time every day. You can use a site/app like Fertility Friend to chart your temps.
You can find a lot of info here.
