those who have been to montauk
I am trying to plan a quick weekend getaway to montauk. Ive narrowed down my hotel search to:
Hartmans Briney Breezes Beachcomber Resort Beach Blum Resort
Has anyone ever been to any of these hotels? Any other recommendations? Thanks!

Re: those who have been to montauk
I always stay at Gurney's b/c that's where DH's fam has timeshare.
But, being that I've been there eight years in a row now I always pass by the hotels you mentioned above - I think, for me, the Beachcomber has the best location and DH told me that before they did timeshare at Gurney's, they used to stay there when he was a kid - and that he really liked it there, his parents always had great things to say as well. For me, it looks nice and I think the location/proximity to the beach and to town is great. HTH!

They are different.
Beachcomber has tiny rooms, but is perfectly nice. I've never stayed there but have friends who do, and it is fine.
The other two I've never been to, Hartman's looks nice though, I think cabins.

Re: those who have been to montauk
See, for me, when I go to Montauk, I like to be walking distance to everything. The hotels you posted are up on the Bluffs, across the street from the beach. It's a relatively long hike down to the beach from those hotels.
I've always stayed in town at the Royal Atlantic or Ocean Beach. They are beachfront - no long hike, and walking distance to all of the shops, restaurants, etc.
Royal Atlantic and Ocean Beach are relatively rundown and $$$ for the type of room you get. I did hear though that Royal Atlantic recently had renovations...? Not sure if that's true. However, it's a beach town and most of the motels are 'beachy' - meaning crapholes. I never picked a hotel based on it's beauty - but more its location.
ETA: If you have kids, you should look into Ocean Beach - it has an indoor pool for rainy days.

I'm just looking for something right on the beach - walking distance to shopping. Any suggestions are great. Thanks!!!

I've stayed at Beachcomber twice and loved it! It's right across from the beach!

Royal Atlantic is on the beach and walking distance to town. They did undergo "renovations" but its still nothing to write home about. The rooms are clean, decent sized and have small kitchenettes. Breakfast is also included. It is pretty pricey, but the location is perfect.

We stayed at Ocean Beach a few years ago. And although it isn't anything fancy I loved the location. I opened our door we were on a deck that led us to the beach. And we were also 2-3 blocks from all the stores and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

We stay at the RA every year, it is exactly as described above. Location is everything for us, we want to be on the beach with easy access to town.
