If you don't have CAC

What do you have? Units in each room? Wall units? What's most cost-effective in terms of lower energy bills?

Re: If you don't have CAC

We are going to be installing ductless units in our house, but unfortunately we might not get around to it until next summer. Looks like we might need some window acs this year Chat Icon

Re: If you don't have CAC

We have a larger AC in our living room and a smaller one in our bedroom. We have a smallish home though and it usually cools off the entire house. My kids will sleep with fans on though as they like to sleep with their doors closed so they don't benefit from the AC then.

Re: If you don't have CAC

We bought window ac units for the bedrooms at night. During the day, we have a portable ac unit that goes in our den where we spend most of our time. In all other rooms we have fans going.

Re: If you don't have CAC

We have a wall unit in the living room and in 2 of the 3 bedrooms. We would love to get central air, but it's just not in the budget right now.

Re: If you don't have CAC

We have window units in every room except the kitchen and bathroom. It's energy efficient for is because we only turn them on if we are in the room. For ex - on a hot summer night, we will be in the living room so will only turn on the bedroom unit about 30 min before we go to bed so the room gets cold (and shut off the a/c elsewhere). This allows us to control how much is used and not waste energy.

Re: If you don't have CAC

When we lived on LI we had a split and the cost to install it was insane and that was through someone I knew.
We ended up doing a ductless mini split or the main area and kept interior doors closed. The bedrooms had in the wall ac units.

Re: If you don't have CAC

We have window units - one in our bedroom, one in our living room, and one in our dining room that also helps cool the kitchen.

Our basement is finished and is always nice and cool so we hang down there a lot, regardless of season.

Re: If you don't have CAC

We have crazy windows that we can't put regular A/C units in, so we use the portable air conditioners just in the bedrooms.

The rest of the house is a sauna. Chat Icon

Re: If you don't have CAC

We have a wall unit on the first floor & 2 in upstairs bedrooms. We only turn them on a few times a year when it's like 100 degrees, otherwise we're not big ac users.
