Is it ok to sit in the sun in the summer while preggo to get some color? I understand that its not good to get dehydrated or over heated but wasnt sure if its a no no.

Re: Sun Exposure
My SIL was just asking me about this... She didn't understand why it was okay for pregnant women to sit on the beach and sun bathe but it isn't okay to go in a tanning bed. I explained it was probably because at the beach you wear sunscreen and try to prevent too much UV damage, where as in a tanning bed you are trying to get UV rays and the heat may not be good for the baby....
To answer your question I think as long as you stay hydrated and wear UV protection you should be fine! I'd keep ice water handy, so to keep your little one cool inside!

Re: Sun Exposure
it is ok as long as you keep hydrated and if you feel like your skin is getting to warm give it a rest.

Re: Sun Exposure
I have sat outside the (so very) few times we've had warm weather so far this year. I always put on lots of sunblock. I don't have any visible stretch marks but if they're secretly there I don't want to bring them out.
Your skin darkening from sun exposure can make stretch marks more apparent so this is especially important for anyone who has them.
I also keep super cold icy water with me outside and only sit out for a little while at a time.

Sun Exposure
I asked my doctor about this when we went on our babymoon to Costa Rica. She said that sitting in the sun is ok but don't bake in the sun. She said to make sure you keep water with you at all time and stay hydrated. Try not to overheat as well. I went from the pool to the sun to the shade to the sun back in the pool. She also said your skin might be more sensitive so if you are used to wearing 15 SPF, you should put on 30SPF.
EDITED to add that she said it is good to get the Vitamin D that the sun provides.
