to do or not to do—maternity shoot *UPDATE*
So how many of you did or plan on doing a maternity shoot?
I'm not sure if I want to, I always thought the photos were a bit odd I can't explain it. Of course I don't know if I would feel the same if it was my own photos with my own baby, etc.
Thoughts?
ETA: I agree with a lot of posters in that I think the nude belly pics with dad kissing belly is a little weird. I decided to go ahead with them but I want them to be more of an engagement shoot, not so focused on my belly, but more on DH and I.

I'm doing it but it's my friend who is the photographer and she does beautiful photos. I just want pictures that are cute and I can look back and see my pregnancy. I was talking to a friend of mine and she said she regrets not doing them last pregnancy and is going to do them this time around. My friend said she can even just do belly shots if I don't want her taking pictures of anything else on my body.

Negative for me. I am not one of those women that love being pregnant so I don't think it;s necessary to have pictures of it lol

same for me. my friend takes amazing maternity/newborn/baby photos and I couldn't imagine not remembering this time when she's offered her services so generously. I don't think I'll be "advertising" them per se but it'll be nice for DH and I to have for our new family in the making

This exactly!! I will take all of the pictures in the world of my LO outside the belly.

This is JUST my opinion...I know some maternity pics are cute and a sweet memoir...but for some reason, I just do not like them (for the most part). I liked having one or two pics of me being PG and you can see I have a belly..but the posed pics of bare bellies or DH's kissing the belly etc are just not for me at all. (Not that all maternity shoots involved those kind of pics, they are just the ones that pop into my head). To each their own but for me, it's a nay

I did them with baby #3 and I'm SO glad I did them. I'm a photographer and since this is baby #4, money is already a little tight for us, so I've been taking some of my own with my remote and tripod and will do a handful at the end myself.
I'm normally very skinny and flat. So I like pregnancy - its the only time I have any curves or shape to my body.

I had them done.... my mom is in Alaska and hasn't been able to see me pregnant, so I had them done for her. I'm making her an album for when she comes to see the baby.... my parents get in on the 27th and my csection is scheduled for the 28th so if this little guy holds out that will get to see me nice and chubby for a day!!!

I didn't do them last pregnancy and I won't be doing it this time either. I think that some maternity shots are very tasteful and beautiful, but it's not like I'd be framing them and hanging them on my wall for all to see. I'd rather spend the money on something else.

We did no I loved every sec of it
We did fun ones,I wanted to look back and see pics of how I looked with my big old twin belly
And we had funny ones and really sweet ones of me n dh together
No regrets whatsoever

This is the route I personally would do. I think its an amazing time to capture the family as it stands now with the growing baby. It shows the excitement and your glowing awesome self. I used to be eh about maternity photos but I have gown to love them as they become less cheesy.

I enjoyed being pregnant for the most part and don't think I looked awful but I decided not to do them and I don't regret it. DH took a picture of me right before we went to the hospital in front of DS's crib and I'm good with that.

Maybe if I was skinny and had a cute little bump! haha But I hate looking fat in pictures! So its a no for me! My photographer friend really wants to do them for me though, so I said maybe we'll take a few just for myself. :)
