How much money

Does a backyard christening cost for 60-70ish people?

Would I need a tent if it's in September?

DH and I have been discussing Christenings and since we can't afford to do it in a place it seems like September is going to be the best time. We have a vacation planned (before we knew we'd be having a baby) in October so money is tight. I'm trying to see if it's really feasible. We thought about waiting until next year but DH's family is pretty catholic so he doesn't want to wait that long. Plus, to do it outside next year I'd have to wait until May or so, and then in July have a first birthday party! LOL

The only event I've planned is my Wedding! Plus, my LO was unplanned so we didn't plan on having these parties. I still want my peanut to have a nice party!

Re: How much money

I would get some sort of a tent since September is smack in the middle of hurricane season and it could be rainy. BJ's sells those HUGE white ones that are expandable, I would do something like that but wait to buy it until like a month before the party so you can return it if it doesn't rain.

Re: How much money

I threw a birthday party for NY husband with about 50-55 people and I cooked all the food myself. It cost me probably 500-600 with food and alcohol. I was a super coupon shopper though at the time.

If you get the food catered I think you could absolutely keep it under $1000.

Perfect! I want to have a nice party but it isn't like LO is going to remember it! I'd rather save the big parties for when he/she can actually enjoy them.
