Do I need to fast for the A1C test?
Trying to decide if I can stop at Quest on my way home 
ETA: Office just called back and NO fasting!

What test is this? The only test (and I've had them ALL) that has any kind of dietary restriction is the glucose test (you shouldn't have anything too sugary/starchy beforehand) and there are some vitamin related blood tests that they say to fast for, though not all.

Do I need to fast for the A1C test?
So far I've had to take my 1 and 3 hour glucose tests and those came back normal, but my sugar level after the 3 hour was dangerously low. I was diagnosed with insulin resistance a few years ago, so I guess they want to be proactive about any potential diabetic issues. I have had the A1C and can't remember at all if I need to fast LOL

From what I can tell, I don't need to. Just not sure if being pregnant changes anything.

Ohhh ok.. sorry that I really don't know much about - but hopefully you get some helpful responses or you can always just call your OB on your way to Quest.

For a normal A1c test I believe its fasting.

A1C is a blood glucose test and yes they should be fasting.... Unless your doctor specified otherwise. (They do it fasting as various foods and drinks can increase your levels, and produce a skewed result.)

No fasting. This test measures your average blood glucose control looking back about 3 months.
