Possible stupid question about clomid
Wasn't sure where to post -
(TTCing for 10 months for DC#3) My Dr mentioned starting me on clomid but I have been stalling just because any medication in general gives me anxiety bc of some past issues. Anyway , I do ovulate though according to the test strips. I thought the point of clomid was to make you ovulate - so why would I take it if I do ovulate?

Possible stupid question about clomid
I would ask your dr that question as it is meant to assist in ovulation. Your dr may be trying to up your chances as clomid will increase the number of follicles you produce therefore most likely increasing # of eggs. Also the Infertility board would be a good place for more info about clomid, etc. good luck!

Re: Possible stupid question about clomid
Test strips don't confirm ovulation they only show ur body gearing up for it

Possible stupid question about clomid
Clomid DOES NOT make you ovulate. it will help produce mature follies and it turn for those that do have trouble ovulating may help them with ovulation.
But most people I know that did have trouble with ovulation still needed a trigger shot.
I did 2 cycles of IUIs with Clomid. I ovulate regularly. I temped for 4 months before I started so I knew I ovulated. Test strips alone will not tell you. The tests only measure the surge but will not confirm ovulation.
If you do use Clomid I highly suggst seeing an RE if you are not. You should be monitored.

Re: Possible stupid question about clomid
Yeah the only true way to confirm ovulation is through temping...the other signs could just be from the hormone changes that occur near ovulation

You should def see a RE if you are going to take clomid, unless your OB/GYN is planning on doing the monitoring (sonograms & blood work).
From what I remember you can only take clomid for 6 cycles. If you aren't being monitored, you won't know if its working and just waste at that point.

Re: Possible stupid question about clomid
Temping is a commitment that's for sure. I did it for two months just to confirm o...and then I gave up because the requirements were too much. I wasn't willing to get up early on weekends. And got ticked when I would have to pee at night and it messed me up. Fm me and questions u have because I did a lot of research on it

Re: Possible stupid question about clomid
Clomid can also help to regulate your cycle if you are irregular.

Possible stupid question about clomid
If you are going to take any type of fertility drugs go straight to a RE. I did it through my Ob for the first couple of months and that was the worst mistake ever. Good luck.
