Anyone recently fly with Alitalia?

Booking flights for summer travel and the code-share is with Alitalia. Curious if anyone has flown with them recently and what their experience was. TIA!

Re: Anyone recently fly with Alitalia?

I flew them a year ago to Peru. Nice planes with each seat having their own entertainment system. Only issue I had is that when I checked in they gave me the emergency exit row and then when I got on the plane they had to reseat me because I don't speak spanish

I flew with them 2 years ago. I booked through Delta but the flight coming home was operated by Alitalia.

Well, when we arrived at the airport to go home (2 hours ahead of our flight) we, along with 20 other or so people were bumped off the flight. We had to spend a night at a crappy airport motel, take an extra day off work and come home a day later. They offered no explanation except that it was customary to overbook flights.

On the bright side, the next day we flew business class and we got 600 euro each for our troubles (but getting the money from them was like pulling teeth..even though it's an EU requirement).

Re: Anyone recently fly with Alitalia?

Just flew them in September. If you want to be packed in like sardines, book economy. If you want room, book upper class. It was the first flight I was ever on where after they served us our first drink, we never saw the flight attendants again. They set up a make shift bar by bathrooms & you served yourself.

Hubby & I agreed if we fly them again, it will be in better then economy class.

What was the configuration of the plane?
3 - 4 - 3 or 2 - 3 - 2

Re: Anyone recently fly with Alitalia?

The plane we were on it was 3-4-3. I was in the 4 section & it was extremely tight to the point that I could not even get comfy to sleep (overnight flight). There were a lot of people standing by the bathrooms bc they felt crammed.

I explained it best as being on a NYC subway during rush hour & unable to get something out of your pocket

Re: Anyone recently fly with Alitalia?

3-4-3 is a ****** configuration unless you're on a 747 or A380 Chat Icon Too tight for a 777 or any plane smaller then thatChat Icon
