is it ok to fertilize the lawn now?
We want to fertilize the lawn this weekend but I think I read somewhere that we can't until May 1.
Can someone please let me know? I'd greatly appreciate it. TIA

is it ok to fertilize the lawn now?
We seeded our this weekend. We are crowding this year instead of chemical treatments. So when we would normally put weed block, or other stuff we are seeding. My uncle does this, and his lawn is amazing.

My Dh bought Scotts 4 Steps and fertilized (step 1) 2 weeks ago. I noticed the grass got greener already.

I asked my landscaper because he does the cutting for me but i do the chemicals, and he said to wait till may. Since the weathere has been so crazy....He said that anything you put down now wont be tbat effective

Yup. Once the forsythia blooms you are good to go. that's the yellow stuff on the highway. You can feed your perennials too.

I was told if you seed in the spring you get too many weeds. Can you tell me more about "crowding"?

That's all I really know. My uncles friend works at a golf course and that's what they do. So we normally do te Scott's 4 steps. This year instead if that, we are just seeding four times. It will eventually crowd out all the weeds.
My grass looks so green and great so far. If this doesn't work, we will go back to chemicals next year.
