One thing I have definitely learned from infertility and loss is that some people just don't/can't understand or grasp just how horrible and truly torturous it is. As you said you planned to invite them which I think is right and great. If they make a poor choice not to attend, then shame on them & Pardon my french but don't give those a$$es a second thought!!

Thanks so much ladies, I started out this thread so pizzzzed but def feeling better about things now.
I did some thinking and decided that for anyone to just hold a grudge like that (especially family) after knowing the road we had, it's just cruel. It's almost like they're finding a reason to be mad. I'm convinced that if not this, it would be something else to hold against me.
I'll hold my head high and invite them of course, but decided there will be no phone calls - no apologies - because do that and they will just turn their resentment onto something else. If they truly care, they will understand and let bygones by bygones.
I'm just too exhausted to care anymore and so flooded with love from those who truly DO care, that I just have no space for anyone who wants to hold a grudge.
I really do appreciate everyone's responses!

whatever u do,whatever happens as long as you,your dh and of course the are ok with it..then who screw everyone esle
after all is said and done,all i want for you is to enjoy every second of your shower
anyone who wants to come will come
anyone who does not want to,who does not want to see a miracle celebrated,well that is sad on their part bc it should be celebrated no matter what
when the shoe is on the other foot and people get hurt,i am not saying they are not justified,they are but imo the pain is not comparable,apples and oranges
if u go and are upset,they say why did you go if you don't go you are selfish for not going
it is 100 percent and i cannot stress enough if you have not been through it you just do not get it
you do not get how it consumes every single second of your life
and if you have not been though it,thank your lucky stars bc it is a road and a journey i would not wish on my worst enemy

Yes, exactly!! Over the years, I went to every shower I was invited to (unless I was deathly ill with a stomach bug   you know who you are!!  ) but besides that, I always went and was always happy for my friends even though I was really freakin sad for me. For whatever reason, I couldn't muster the energy to show my face at family showers. Lots of my friends were people who went through infertility. I'm not saying that should make a huge difference, but in ways it did. I was jealous of the ones who had a fairly easy road. I was sad that I couldn't be so lucky... I was sad that I was 16wks pregnant at one cousins shower and a year later I was losing a set of triplets and she was giving birth to her daughter. I just couldn't bring myself to go and share in the excitement when I had JUST miscarried and on the cusp of the anniversary of when we lost my first baby in the 2nd trimester. I just couldn't. Anyone who can't understand that .. well ... I have two words for you
