I think they are just like the test lines on the cheapies, and the digital thing just interprets them. I look at them when I eject the stick, and they have two lines like the Wondrofos, and when I get a smiley they are both dark....but that is just my interpretation.

I kind of noticed the same - so the wondrofos have two lines also and one just gets darker??
