Holistic healing / holistic pediatrician
Do any of your LO's see a holistic pediatrician or go to a holistic healing center? My DS has eczema and food allergies and he's been on steriod creams for well over a year now and it's not geting better. 2 allergists, 2 dermatologists later and we're still in the same boat. My hair dresser mentioned that she took her daughter for accupressure and after a few visits her food allergies and eczema were gone. Unfortunately, this was a few years ago and she can't remember the name of the doctor.
I'm just looking to try something else... i hate that he needs medicated cream 2 x's a day, every.single.day.
TIA for you help -- I'm just feeling a little desperate because I can't fix it

I have heard that going dairy free cures that condition.. but Its just something I've heard.. i have no proof.. but maybe something to look into!!

He is already dairy free since he is allergic to milk (also eggs, soy and wheat). poor guy is very limited on what he can have.

I would love to take DD to a holistic healer. Growing up, my parents took my brother and I to one. Our pediatrician was not a holistic pediatrician but firmly believed in holistic healing so they sort of worked in tandem. I've been looking for one to take DD to for the longest time.

I found a wonderful place in the city but that's not easy for us if he has to go multiple times a week. Of course if it's the only option, we'll figure out a way to do it, but I was hoping to get a recommendationfrom here for someone in LI.

I thought someone on here posted about one in Northport. It was not for kids but you could try googling the person in Northport and start there.

Have you tried coconut oil? I've been reading about it for yeasty diaper rash and it seems people also use it on their babies for eczema...

Thanks, I just visited their site and they do have a pediatrician. I called to get some information and they were very helpful... he must be good, first available appointment is 6/17

Unfortunately, most conventional doctors treat symptoms only, they do not address the trigger causes.
Food allergies, eczema, asthma, etc. Usually stem from leaky gut syndrome or gut dysbiosis. This means that one's small and large intestines have holes that allow improperly digested food to enter the bloodstream. The body then launches an allergic response in the form of skin issues, behavioral problems, etc. Many people have healed their children's health issues through the GAPS protocol/diet. The idea is to eat certain foods and avoid others(those that can irritate the gut) to allow the gut to heal itself.
Here is a book that you may find helpful:
The Eczema Cure
Also, dr, Lawrence Palevsky is a more holistic based pediatrician.

And yes an acupuncturist/Chinese herbalist should also be able to help. Unfortunately, I don't live in new York, so I don't have any recommendations.

Thanks so much for the information. I'm definitely going to check out that book. We are also set to meet with a gastroenterologist later this month.
Dr. Palevsky is the one I called and his first appointment is in June.

Dr.Diala Jaber is in huntington. She is an MD that specializes in holistic care. She accepts insurance but also charges a yearly fee to supplement her income since she spends more time with patients and doctors normally do. I'm sure you could call the office and see if she'd be able to help you.

Ken Moss in Smithtown came very highly recommended to me from a co-worker. He treats adults but also treats pediatrics. He is an Acupuncture specialist and Nutritionist. I haven't seen him yet, but plan on making an appointment soon. I will let you know how it goes.

Northport wellness is great. I also have a friend whose son has a lot of allergies and they love seeing Ashley Lewin in Riverhead. She is a holistic doctor.
