possible uti...
I called my doc last night bc I was feeling some burning. He said he sounded like a typical yeast infection. Ive never had a yeast infection and I really didnt think it could be that -- but i took his advice and treated it as if it was.
Today im finding that i am getting much more burning and constant urination.
Would you call back and insist on coming in for a test?

YES!!! It sounds more like a UTI then a yeast infection. I had a yeast infection for the first time when I found out I was pregnant. It was more of an itching then a burning. The UTI I also had for the first time in the beginning of my pregnancy. I had constant urination and burning when I urinated. Since I never had one I just thought it was a pregnancy symptom. I was 9 weeks and was so sick from hyperemesis I ended up at the hospital from dehydration. They told me that I had a UTI that spread to my kidneys which is harmful for the baby.
Sorry, that's the long answer and I don't mean to scare you but for the reason of it possibly spreading to the kidneys, I would insist on a test.

thank you for your answer. when you found out you did have a UTI what were they able to give you to clear it up? not sure what we are allowed to take.

They gave me antibiotics. Your OB knows which ones you can take and can't take. I don't remember the name of it sorry.

I was given Keflex when I had mine- and also was told macrobid. Feel better!

thanks! how long does this usually take to clear up? i just got over morning sickness 3-4 days ago, now this. oh the joys!!! :)

I can't fully remember that either sorry. I want to say that I took the antibiotics for a week. The time it turned kidney infection I was on IV antibiotics for 4 days and then I think 3 days after I left the hospital. How far along are you? My first and half of my second trimester it was one thing after another so I feel your pain!

im 14 weeks today. weeks 5-13 were non stop morning sickness all day. i thought i was going to have some respite! Thanks again

burning def UTI. I've never had a yeast infection but plenty of UTIs, I have one sensitive hoohah hah.
They will give you a pain killer too for the pain, you can buy Azo over the counter and I believe it's safe for pregnancy. Taking that and antibiotics, you won't even feel it anymore and it takes a few days to clear up but I believe it's a weeks worth of antibiotics.

So sorry!!!
I get UTI's all the time!!!! Usually it is a 10day antibiotic. The burning will start to get significantly better after 24 hours and after 3 days you will feel as good as new.
The meds should be taken with food so they don't make you sick.
