Anyone breast feed their first dc but not their 2cnd?

Ds is 2 weeks old and I m beginning to realize how tough it is going to be breast feeding him with 2 year old twins.

Today was rough. He wanted to nurse what felt like all day long and I feel bad for my twins.

He has been basically nursing since 6 pm (its 830) and I am beyond exhausted and ready to give up.

Anyone not bf their 2cnd? I feel horribly guilty.

Or does anyone have any advice or encouragement to get me through this rough patch?

Your ds is probably going through a growth spurt. There will be days like this but it won't be like this always. Do you have a carrier you could use so that you are hands free and could play with your twins at the same time? I would recommend a ring sling. I know how hard it is but I promise things will get better.

I didn't not do it for my second, but I was much less committed and did it or less time. DS1 I nursed and then pumped after every feeding. He got nothing but breast milk for a full six months. DS2 I nursed when I was with him, but I wasn't committed on the pumping end. I felt my oder DS needed me during the time I would have pumped. He got formula from day 1. And I only nursed for 3 months.

I questioned myself several times this time around(#3) like your DC DS wanted to nurse all day. I have a 4yo and a 22 month old who are really tough. I knew 1 that it was important to me for my children to be BF and 2 that the all day nursing won't last forever.
All 3 of my boys were in the NICU and I had a really tough start with all 3 but spefically #3.
DS is 7 weeks and nurses every 3 hours for at Least 45 mins sometimes longer and it's a pain but again I know it won't last long
I think you need to weigh the pros and the cons and see what will work best for you and your DC (all 3) it's tough.
Maybe nurse the baby while you do something with your twins like play a game or build blocks. Multitasking can be your best friend at times like this.

If you got through nursing twins then you can get through anything! It is very time consuming in the beginning, and you are lucky your twins have each other to play with. Is there anyone who can come help you for a bit to take care of them, maybe take them to the park for a while? You can do it - just get through the first few weeks and it will get easier!

Thanks everyone! Hoping today is a better day. Just going to take it one day at a time. I have an ergo carrier but maybe a sling carrier would be better.

DD cluster fed in the evenings as a newborn and it was tough. I can only imagine with twins how hard it must be. It doesn't last forever and feedings will get shorter soon!

I would definitely suggest a carrier. Youtube has videos about nursing in various carriers so that may be helpful. Maybe a mother's helper would be worth looking into if you don't have family members that can help. When I was in middle school I helped out a family member who had her second just by taking her 2 year old outside to play so she could nurse.

Like you said, one day at a time!

I nursed my first DS and FF my DS2. I have no regrets over it and no guilt. It was the best decision for MY family and how I felt at the time. DS2 is FINE! You do whatever is best for your family with ZERO guilt!

if you can nurse twins you can do anything! can you wear the new baby in a sling or other carrier that lets them nurse all day and gives you your hands free to deal with the twins?

You're amazing for nursing your twins! You can do this!!

I found the boba wrap and maya sling to be wonderful for nursing! Could never quite do it in the ergo. Good luck!!!

I nursed my first for 6 months and my second for three weeks and never nursed my third. If I could turn back time I wouldn't even nurse the first! A happy mom is a good mom. Don't drive yourself crazy trying to nurse. It will ruin very precious time that you have with your newborn. Formula is great! And all my kids are perfect whether they were nursed or not!

I nursed first ds for about 8 weeks. DS #2 not at all. You have to do what works best for you and your family. I give you credit for even trying with 2yo twins in the house.

Thanks everyone! I went to the ped today for his 2 week visit he is already up a pound from his birthweight...almost 9lbs. The ped walked in and said whatever you are doing...keep doing it!
It was also a much better day!
