Baby Slept Through House Alarm Going Off?!
Is this normal?! My cat accidentally set off our house alarm last night (5 AM). DH and I damn near had heart attacks it was so loud, but DD slept through it! The alarm is right between our bedroom doors. She stirred a little, but that was it. Should I be concerned about her hearing? She did this once before too. Has anyone else experienced this? (She's 18.5 months old.)

Yep, both my DDs slept through it too.
ETA: And it was sooo loud too!

You know the term "sleep like a baby"?... I'm guessing it came from situations like this.
My kids would barely budge either.

There was just a tv report about this. The homeowners had three sons and they all slept through it. Ours actually went off this weekend too. My older DS woke right up, but my you get one slept through it. They were talking in the report about new alarms being set to the parents voice. Something to the effect of "wake up, there's a fire in the house. Get out of bed. Emergency"

Baby Slept Through House Alarm Going Off?!
DD has slept through ours on several occasions, while DH and I are having heart palpitations from the sound scaring us half to death.

When DD was tiny, maybe 3 months, she slept through the house alarm going off. You know what set it off? A friggen cricket landed on the motion detector!

Funny you post this my mom was just telling me about an experiment that was done (not sure where) where kids slept right through the alarm. They are trying to come up with a system where instead of an alarm its the parents voice because apparently kids response better if its a familiar voice.

My girls are 5.5 mo and they sleep through it too. Its right outside their room down 5 steps too. I set it off in the am sometimes b/c I dont disarm upstairs.

This sounds about right!
DD slept through our carbon monoxide alarm as a newborn along with me freaking out and running outside with her. This morning she slept through DH's alarm right next to her. Can I vacuum or empty the dishwasher while she's napping? Nope!
