Calgon, Take me AWAY!
Soooooo, I've been having a rough year to say the least. It seems like everytime I get my head above water, something comes along and pushes me under again. And things are not going to be improving in 2013. Here's hoping for 2014!
Anyway, I digress. DH and I really need a vacation. REALLY need it. We were thinking of going for our 3 year anniversary in May, but could push it back a little to up the anticipation factor. That's half the fun, IMO! We are on a tight budget though. We can swing right around $2k for everything. I know, it's a bit of a tall order, but pricing out a few all inclusives came to around $2300 which is doable for us. We looked at Majestic Elegance (Excellence? I don't know...) and really liked it, but weren't sure if we wanted to do DR again. Our last trip was to Excellence Punta Cana. So I was wondering if there are any nice, inexpensive all inclusives you could recommend? We'd like to try somewhere new so we're ruling out Excellence Punta Cana and Couples Swept Away in Jamaica. We're totally open to any other ideas though. We just need something to look forward to! Please help us!
ETA: Nothing? No inexpensive all inclusives?

I have no advice for specific all inclusive's but you should research on Tripadvisor and cross check prices through Expedia and the like. Good luck!!

Definitely look into a cruise. For an all-inclusive Cheap Caribbean always has the best deals by far. You just have to play around with it a bit. I've found sometimes if you leave on an off day (Mon Tues) you can save a few hundred.

Hmm good tip! Totally doesn't matter to me what day we leave! In fact, a Monday to Friday would be nice (Looking for about 5 days.) since we'd have the weekends as "buffers".
We kinda didn't want to do a cruise though. We've done about 8 of them together in the decade we've been together and we're just getting kind of bored, especially since we'd want to leave out of NY. That seriously limits the type of cruises you can take- most go to Bermuda which we've been to about 5 times and the Caribbean which is another one we've hit up a few times. We would LOVE to do the NCL Breakaway, but that is crazzzzzzzy expensive so no dice.
I'm going to check out trip advisor and expedia in general, I was just wondering if there was some hidden gem you all knew about. Thank you though!

Riviera Maya all inclusives are definitely within your price range and it is beautiful there!!! We stayed at the Iberostar Grand resort for our honeymoon in 2008 and loved it! You fly into Cancun and it's about a 30 min car ride to Riviera Maya. There's also a lot to do there in terms of excursions. We checked out the Mayan Ruins, took a catamaran ride, jet skiied, etc.
