Vbac question
So I am going to try for a vbac. My twins will be 17 months old when their brother is born. My OB put a c section on the calendar at the hospital at 40w1d if I don't go on my own before then.
I forgot to ask him when I was there but can anyone tell me why this is done? Is this bc at that point I am past my due date and they have to get the baby out? I'm not upset about it, just curious.

Yep. Many docs will not do a vbac post term. Probably increases risk.

Vbac question
I am trying for a VBAC and my doctor has not mentioned scheduling a C Section yet anyway. I am 33 weeks and I have an appointment on Monday so will have more questions for him as i get closer. But good luck and i hope you go before that.

Every doctor is different. My OB let me scheduled my c-section for 41w3D past my due date, and I went into labor at 41W2D (had a successful VBAC).

My doctor said the same thing. I think the risks of complications increase. I had a csection scheduled for 40 weeks. I was ok with that plan I felt like of it was meant to be then I would go into labor before the csection. Sure enough 4 days before my water broke and I had a successful vbac!

I just had my first OB appt yesterday. My doctor said that they will let me go to 41 weeks for a VBAC.
She said that after that would have to be a c section. Also no induction after a C (which I knew) but she did say they can give a little pitocin if you are in labor on your own.

Hm. There is some increased risk of the placenta starting to degenerate after 40 weeks, but this is true for anyone and can be monitored with sonos. Not sure why your doc would have to schedule a section now instead of waiting until you get closer and s/he can make a better determination of what's best for you and the baby.

Dr said they will let me go one week past my due date for a VBAC. Due June 12 and c-section is scheduled for June 20th
