Converting to a toddler bed

So my DS decided today would be a great day to start climbing out of his crib. He is 22 months. We just finished putting the toddler rail on so it's no longer a crib.

My question is, how long did it take your DC to get used to the newfound freedom and stay in bed? Any tips to make this transition easier? I'm really scared for him to be in his room alone and we don't have a video monitor. And of course, he picks the week DH is away on business so I have to figure this out all on my own.

It took DS 2 days. He had no issues at bedrime but napping was a Game. Everytime he walked out we just kept redirecting him inside to bed. Eventually both days he fell asleep and weve had no issues since.

Its funny bc he wont even come out on his own he calls for us to come get him. He will stand up waiting.
