I need help keeping my 5 week old sleeping
This is my 3rd kid and my third time messing up the sleeping thing.
He will only sleep if he is being held. Fine except I have 2 other kids to take care of and I end up parenting from the couch.
I have to put him down to feed the other 2 and attempt basic things during the day and right away he wakes up.
He ends of being up for hours which leads to him being overtired and miserable.
I try my hardest to avoid this so I hold him ALL day.
I don't know how to fix this but I need to ASAP

Will he sleep in the swing? That was the best for me when DD was tiny. She would nap for 2-3 hours in there!

I need help keeping my 5 week old sleeping
I have the same problem with my 5 week old!! She will sleep all day in my arms, but the second i put her down, she's wide awake!! I dont know what to do about it either! Hope we get some good suggestions.

DD get's like this at times. I find that if she is swaddled she will sleep longer...otherwise she wakes herself up...or I put her in the swing and sometimes she sleeps good in there.

This was my saving grace for those first few months, because my son was the exact same way.

I would try swaddling him and putting him in the RNP if you have one. The swing worked well for DD and was probably the first place she was able to fall asleep on her own. If nothing else works, def try a carrier.
One tip for when he's already asleep and you try to put him down, place you hand on his belly when you first put him down. It seemed to help DD settle down and stay asleep if I help my hand there just for a minute.

I also agree and think that wearing him is your best option. Moby wrap is great for that age.

Swaddling and white noise would be my recommendation. If he really needs to be held, then I'd go with a carrier, like others have suggested.

I haven't tried the moby yet because I honestly want to avoid him being attached to being on me but I will use it as a last resort. I never took out my swing but I will tomorrow.
It's crazy because he doesn't even sleep in the carseat or on a car ride.
Do you think it's to late to swaddle? Maybe with his arms out?

My daughter is one month today and doing the same thing. She will not sleep during the day. She will fall asleep in my arms but as soon as I put her to sleep she wakes right up and starts screaming. I had the same issues with my first daughter And the baby swing helped but not with this one

Definitely not too late to swaddle! And try the swing. It was a lifesaver when DS only wanted to be held. At 7 weeks, though, he's already outgrown that phase! Hahaha.

Definitely swaddle.... They feel warm and secure.
