Spinoff to face/eye cream - retinol?
Does your eye cream have retinol in it? I have started to really notice some fine lines around my eyes and supposedly the best thing is retinol for this. Which eye cream do use and does it contain retinol? TIA

I've been using this and I really do see a difference with puffiness. I don't have many lines, so I can't comment on that. I don't think it has retinol.
Origins Eye Cream
ETA my sister used a face cream with retinol and broke out horrible in a rash. apparently she was allergic and the dermatologist told her that all people should stay away from retinol.

Wow! Good to know. I have lines and dark circles, no puffiness. I have heard great things about the Origins products.

Retinol is very drying to the skin, especially under the eyes where the skin is very thin and will accentuate the lines rather than diminish them.

If you are going to use a product with retinol (over the counter or prescription) you need to build up your skins tolerance. So use it once every three days, then build up to every two and so on...Also, a good moisturizer is important as retinol is very drying. I've been using Retin A for about a month now and my skin looks amazing.

Re: Spinoff to face/eye cream - retinol?
I had to use retinol years ago for mild acne. I stopped using it after several days because the increase dryness in my skin. It actually made it turn purple. I do have sensitive skin as well, but I never recommend this product. See if there are any natural products you can use since the eye area is super thin and super sensitive.

Re: Spinoff to face/eye cream - retinol?
I was using Retinol ResQ by Alpha Hydrox (available at Ulta) until I switched to Obagi's tretinoin (.05%) because I wanted something more potent.
When it comes to Retinol/Retin-A products, people tend to get discouraged too quickly and don't realize your skin needs to get used to the product. It's long term, not short term. You will not see immediate results. In fact it will make your skin looks worse before it gets better...but retin-a has been proven to increase collagen and diminish wrinkles.
It can take months before your skin adapts. I use AHAs to help with the cell turn-over. I use a 10% glycolic acid under my moisturizer during the day and alternate a 14% at night with my tretinoin. I also use a .1% tretinoin on my chest/neck and shoulders.

I feel like it keeps new lines from forming and firms up the under eye area. To me, it's more of preventitive maintainence, than fixing what's already there. Like keeping it from getting worse, kwim? And it's not that pricey this one
