baby sprinkle... in leu of a card a lotto ticket???
i am throwing a baby sprinkle (fourth child) for my sister in law.. a small get together... basically only family... is it tacky to say in leau of a card buy a $1-$2 lotto ticket?

I think having a shower/sprinkle for a fourth child is bad enough without asking for people to buy a lottery ticket in lieu of a card.

It's not full blown shower... There is maybe 15 people.... Family and 3 friends... I don't see anything wrong with having a get together to celebrate a pregnancy.. She usnt registering or anything-
Ps - I get the tackiness of lotto ticket..:)

Totally agree. People get bothered by 1 sprinkle. I can't imagine getting invited to 4 showers for the same person.

What do you care what people do to celebrate the birth of a child? I don't understand why people think it is so tacky to have a gathering for each child and celebrate such a joyous event. It's not like she is asking for all these gifts.

Thank you- I really appreciate this response!!! It is such a joyous occasion - and every child should be celebrated :)
I used to come on here all the time - recommended people to do the same - I took a little break and just started to come back - this sight used to be so great - positive- not much negativity - I really enjoyed it... I will keep coming on this sight but I think I going to start being like you- write POSITIVE things :)

Exactly! I really dont get why people think it isnt appropriate to celebrate a new baby.

i actually like the idea..diff and fun!
and i would totally not think twice about going to a sprinkle for any number baby
if my friend has a kid i am gong to buy a few things for them
why not do it with friends and fam and of course food

Sounds like fun, and I agree every baby deserves a celebration. It sounds like it's more of a welcome baby lunch then a sprinkle and that's awesome.
I would be put off by a lottery ticket, but we did the book instead of a card idea and it was great. We got lots of awesome books.

I love the idea that someone suggested with a book for a card- they did that at my shower for my ds and he has all these great books that people wrote him special messages in

Why baby #4 doesn't deserve as much of a celebration as baby #1 got is beyond me...
Not sure how the lottery ticket would really fit into a baby shower. I like the idea of a book or something else.

A lotto ticket is less expensive than a card, I think it is a cute idea.
I think it is worse to ask for a book bc then you are asking someone to pay more then they would for a card.
I think a small gathering to celebrate mom and future baby is a really nice thing to do even if it is the 10th child for the mommy.
