Islands of Adventure with a 5 year old
We have an Orlando trip coming up and plan to visit Islands of Adventure rather than Magic Kingdom as we have bee nthere the last two years but when I read a lot of the comments and reviews it seems people say to stick with Disney with smaller kids as there is not much to do for smaller kids at Islands of Adventure.
My son will be about 5.5 when we go and after viewing the Islands website and all of the rides he meets the height requirements for all but two and the shows seem like they would interest him. I looked up Universal as well and same thing, he only misses the height requirement for two rides. SO I guess my question is if you hve been there why stay away with younger kids???

Island of adventure is mostly all roller coasters. I with a 5 year old would stick with Disney.

Re: Islands of Adventure with a 5 year old
I am sure many will disagree with me but...the rides at those two parks are mainly geared to older children and adults. While there are some I think are kid friendly a lot are roller coasters that I don't think are appropriate for my 5 year old whether she hits the height limit or not. MK is more geared to younger and older kids and she can do the entire park.
But if your child is tall enough and you are comfortable going to those two instead then why not.
