What time would you start a Saturday birthday party (backyard BBQ) over the summer?

For what age child ? Are people coming from far away ?
As a guest I would much rather go to a BBQ in the summer at 4 or 5, I feel like the day is killed if it is much earlier.
Also, at 12 or 1 you are outside in the hottest part of the day, if you start it later it usually starts to cool down a bit.

I always like weekend parties to start at 2 or 3 so you have the morning free. Or in our case so DD can nap before we get to the party so she's not a cranky mess

I schedule it around DC's nap time.
If you DC doesn't nap then maybe later in the afternoon/ early evening.

Is it a family bbq or all kids?? If it were all kids, I would do it earlier, but if it were family also, I would say 2pm

It's for family...and my DC usually naps until around 2, so it's good to hear that a lot of you wouldn't mind a party starting late afternoon! :) Thanks for the feedback!!
