Name help

Hi ladies!

Dh and I have narrowed down our names to the following 2 for our dd due in July:

Eva rose
Sofia rose

I love both...but think Sofia may be too common. Any thoughts overall??

Tia!

Both are pretty names, you can't wrong with either choice. My advice, pick what you love regardless of popularity. Chat Icon

I like them both but I pick Eva, very pretty and a little less common. I am not opposed to common names though.

My DD's name is Eva and I love it. The only thing I will say is that some people find a way to pronounce it Ava and this irritates me.

same here. I am nto opposed to 'common' bc I think it is very regional and also even the MOST popular name is used less then the most popular names used years ago bc there is a much larger pool of names, that said I happen to know a lot of Sophia's, like I said it is regional and where I live it is hot Chat Icon I would go with Eva.

I like both names but agree, Sofia is SO common (it's been the #1 most common name I think the past two years). I also REALLY like Eva. It was on our girls name list (we're having a boy though).

Re: Name help

I really love Sofia (both are beautiful names though!), so I would say go with whatever name you would love more for your daughter.....I know it's hard not to worry about popularity though!

I love Sofia, I have a Sofia on my hockey team and I always spell it Sophia....oops! Once I found out that it's the Scandinavia spelling of the name I never got it wrong again! I'm Swedish by decent...haha!

Re: Name help

I like Sofia.

I know you're comcerned about Sofia being too common but the trend right now seems to be picking "unique" and "non-traditional names". The problem with that is, there's going to be a generation of kids with all of the same "unique" names lol. KWIM?

Both are beautiful so I don't think you can really go wrong with either.

I love it spelled with an F too for the same reason, my mom is from Finland and it was my grandma's name, also spelled with an F, go Scandinavians!! Re: Name help

Love them both, but I know at least five Sofias under age 2. That'd be a deal breaker for me. Eva is a little less common.

If DC #1 was a girl he was going to be Eva. Love that name. For some reason DH nixed it for my two DD's

Sofia. That is one of my favorite names but my husband vetoed it. Eva is really pretty too though so either way you can't go wrong:)

Re: Name help

After much back and forth my dh and I have finally decided that Sofia will be my dd's name so I'm biased lol and I am also partial to Sofia with and f bc it is the Spanish (italian/latin) version of the name which is what I was looking for....my two other daughters do not have common names and I do realize that Sophia with a ph happens to be a very common name but I love the name so I think I'm over the fact that its super common ......good luck choosing

But do what you love..I'm in the same boat with a popular name. But in the end I am trying not to let that bias my opinion.
