Need hotel recs for Oct Disney, DH & I ONLY!
My DH & I are considering a little getaway/run the 10mile Tower of Terror in Oct.
Probably 4 nights....We thought part would be resort relaxing/see downtown Disney and 2 days of park time.
keeping it budget friendly, where would you stay?

I would say since you said budget friendly...Port Orleans. Probably french quarter but riverside is okay to. There is a boat to downtown disney that leaves from both resorts at night it runs every 10-15 mins friends have said. Nice change from the buses.
Next step up would be AKL savannah view. It would be nice 2 adults to watch the animaals from you balcony with a glass of wine.
Then if you want to spend more. The boardwalk bc you have easy access to EPCOT as well as the activities at the hotel itself.

I would also say Port Orleans if you are budget conscious. We did not stay there but ate there and thought it was very cute and cozy.
I would probably stay off site at a resort like Waldorf but I would not want to go to the parks without the kids. DH and I are not theme park people.

I never thought I'd go to the parks without the kids either....BUT when we went with the girls, we didn't get to the older rides (even with fast pass, we felt we didn't want the other to wait with the kids; we were fine with that).
My DH loves H Potter, so he might want Disney 1 day, Universal another.
The main goal of "just us" is to run a race together, obviously being down we'd want to enjoy the park too. (i've found you vacation different without your kids....slower paced & able to soak it all in)

I wouldn't know. We never vacation without the kids.
The only time we go away alone without the kids is if DH goes to a conference in a location I want to go. DH spends half his time at the conference/networking events while I relax, shop or go to the spa. Then we do a little sightseeing together and have a few meals together alone or with his colleagues.

Re: Need hotel recs for Oct Disney, DH & I ONLY!
We've only done 1 vacation without the kids (it too was a work conference for DH).
We are fortunate enough to have my ILs who will watch the girls for long weekends, so we have have stay-cations, little getaways. That's what this would be.
Anytime it's just us 2, it reminds us of how different we are as "us" vs parents.

Good for you for getting a little adult time!
I second the rec. for the Boardwalk. We were just there and I saw a lot of adults without kids relaxing around the resort and enjoying the amenities. The Boardwalk itself has a lot of adult activities but the resort also has a serene feeling to it. Relax by day party by night.
It's not "in your face" Disney theming which helps.
I can't wait to go back.

If I went with dh alone I'd want to stay at an epcot hotel. I would only do epcot and downtown Disney If we didn't havethe kids with us plus pool time obviously.

I stayed at the swan and loved it. When we went it a long weekend and wasn't cheap but totally worth it since disney hotels have free shuttles and ferries that take you to parks and we didn't need to rent a car.

I stayed at AKL and it is actually pricey for the Savannah view room (regular price is almost $600 per night I believe). We stayed there when it just opened so we got a much better price. But the balcony and watching the animals was great - I could just sit and watch for hours. They only have buses from there though. If you have a car, it's very close to an exit (not sure what it's called - there's a McDonald's on the main road right at the exit road) so it's convenient if you're leaving the park.
