How heavy is heavy cramping?
I know the 'worry' signs are heavy cramping and bleeding, but what is considered heavy cramping?
Yesterday morning I posted about a tiny bit of spotting. Nothing else all day, so I was fine. I'm also sick with a bad head cold and cough and I didn't drink much water yesterday (1 small bottle). During the night I woke up to cramping. Not doubled over in pain or can't breathe cramping, but uncomfortable enough that it woke me. I had some water and breathed and it went away after a few minutes. This morning I had a tiny bit of brown spotting again.
I know everything is probably fine but is there any cause for concern here?

Cramping is normal in the beginning, your uterus is stretching. Just keep drinking water. When cramping is paired with heavy bleeding, that could be an issue.

It's hard to say if you should be worried, in all likelihood it's probably fine since you have no red bleeding but if it were me, I would call the OB just in case. The doctor will be able to out your mind at ease more than anyone else.
ETA - I had a ton of cramping in the first trimester with both of my pregnancies and everything was always fine.

Agreed, it could be normal, but I'd check in with the ob just to ease your mind. I mean that's what *I* would do anyway because I've been a worrier lately! I'm not too sure what someone functioning with a normal brain would do here. Really though, aren't you 6wks or so? You are far enough along to see a heartbeat. I'd go in just to check things out rather than wonder.

I had cramping and brown spotting for about two weeks with my pregnancy. I think it's pretty normal.

I would also just call the OB. It's probably nothing, especially since you don't have red bleeding. But maybe they will be willing to see you and then you can ease your mind.

So hard to say. Don't panic, but for peace of mind I'd call the dr.

yup cramping is totally normal I used to get bad cramping in the beginning. As long as is not followed by bleeding you should be ok.

Re: How heavy is heavy cramping?
Thanks everyone. I have my first appointment on Wednesday so I think if I don't get any heavier spotting or cramping I can wait til then...
I did email my SIL who is a doctor in Toronto and also just had a baby so if she encourages me to call the doctor I will.
