Need to vent: daycare

I'll be brief because its just a vent. I dont think I can do anything really, nor do I think I should. I dont know

A mom at AJ's school got kicked out for very dumb reasons. She got upset and dug deeper into the school and reported them to the state.

I came up because of a long standing complaint I've had and yes, I said they could call me if they wanted. they did.

They did a surprise visit on the school

Director just sent an email to the entire staff letting them know that, that mother and I reported them to the state. Which isn't exactly true.

Part of me is like 'meh' its true, you have been messing up the incident reports and ive complained to you before so big whoop.

Other part is "wait whoa.. I didnt report you, I just supported the case and why go off using my name in an email to staff, how is this going to affect AJ?"

I'd email them back a short statement saying that you didn't report them... if you didn't.

This could be very bad for your daughter. She's still in the program, right? The other child is out.

While it's incorrect to take something out on a child, I think places still may.

I agree with this. I would absolutely 100% set the record straight. You would not even want to take the chance of AJ's care being compromised.

Re: Need to vent: daycare

I cannot believe they would be SO unprofessional to send an email like that and name names.
Even if you DID report them to the state- they have no right to tell that to anyone.
To me that is just unprofessional, immature and childish to the 9th degree and would make me look VERY badly on the school and the adminisrators there.
And they shouldn't be so upset by a visit by the state- all accredited centers get them. If they are doing things right they should have nothing to worry about.

Re: Need to vent: daycare

wow. just wow. that is super unprofessional for her to tell the staff that certain parents reported them- especially in this case as its not true.

I agree with the pp- you didnt report them, so definitely advise everyone of that.

sorry that she is doing this Chat Icon

Re: Need to vent: daycare

It is TOTALLY unethical for the director to name names in her email to her staff. To me, it's like putting a target on your DD's back. Unacceptable and I would definitely send a brief email explaining that you did not report them to the state but a complaint you made in the past was brought into the issue.

I might also consider a new daycare... just saying.

Need to vent: daycare

I spoke to the teacher this morning (I couldnt help it) and I told her I knew about the email (which I'm not supposed to know) and that I didn't report them but yes, I did talk to them about the incident reports and I hoped it didnt affect AJ. She says she loves my daughter etc. So I dont know.

I'm calling my aunt in case I need to just pull AJ out all together.

Re: Need to vent: daycare

Wow. That would leave a very bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn't feel comfortable w/ the daycare any longer. I don't think tou have to worry about AJ's teacher treating her differently, but the way the admins are running the facility is very unproffesional. I would contact their corporate office to discuss the email if they have one. I would also set up a meeting with the director. It seems very shady how they are reacting to the surprise visit. As someone who worked in healthcare it is all part of the normal activites. They shouldnt be annoyed unless they are not functioning to the correct level. Sorry your dealing with this!!

Need to vent: daycare

The owners don't care.

This has been an ongoing issue, there are plenty of emails to them about various topics. They just don't care. If you don't like the way its done, you can leave. That's their attitude. Actually the owners have full time jobs and this franchise stuff is just a side thing. They are in dallas, we are in san antonio.

The director changed the handbook due to all the complaints to say this:
If the relationship between the school and the parents has been broken then we have the right to dismiss or not extend re-enrollment to any of those families.

As a matter of fact that is her reason for kicking out the other parent's child. She kept asking why she wasn't getting monthly reports (even AJ gets month reports) and it ticked off the director to no end. this last time she decided enough and kicked her out. Specific reasons were:
1. Outburst and aggressive talk and discussion regarding building expansion at Parent Meeting. (we weren't warned of the construction and it took away space from our children, yet our tutition has gone up)
2. Unreasonable complaints that have been ongoing since the school year started.
(monthly reports, construction, refunds)
3. Derogatory email written regarding the school and the administration.
(when she finally got fed up she emailed the owner too)
4. Damage done through ccing various parents with your complaints.
(I was copied as well as another parent on a lot of it)

So there's really no one we can complain to BUT the state, if that makes sense.

The waddlers are in a condemmed room with no fire exit. They've been warned, but ignore it. Even this morning went by and the waddlers were still in that room. The rooms are AT capacity. The school is NOT an accredited or certifed montessori like they imply. Chldren are hurt and no reports go home. Altho they have no exemption and no certification they are 'teaching' k-3rd.

There's issues. I just need to make it 3 more months.

I did call my aunt and she can take AJ but there's a least 5 days each month where she can't. So its not ideal but the hubby and i will have to think about it.

:(

There's no other daycares/schools/prek in the area? I'd find another option. Can you hire someone to work the days that your aunt is unavailable or to split the time with her? What about a part time prek program?

And, I'd be leaving reviews of their unprofessionalism and other issues on Yelp etc. I'd also consider firing back at them to correct the email since slander is no joke.............

I can't believe the state allows the children in a condemned room? WTF?

Re: Need to vent: daycare

If you have that many complaints, you should find another daycare.

If you keep complaining or the staff thinks you are complaining, the staff is going to treat AJ differently.

I love our preschool but could not stand the director. I argued with her once. DH reminded me that our kids go to school there. There is no benefit to our children if the staff doesn't like me. I still don't like the director but I say hello every morning. I'll be nice if she will be nice to my kids.

ITA They aren't accredited, have been giving you trouble and on top of that have safety issues. I hope you find a good option for AJ. Chat Icon

I 100% agree...why would you have your daughter in their care? Find another place!

Just to add...my sister briefly accepted a job at a daycare on the island (don't think they were accredited but not sure)..they were AWFUL. She was in tears everyday because of how the managers treated the workers and how so much was swept under the rug. It was just not a good situation and she swore she would never put her kids in such a place. Just do your research. If you have nagging feelings about something and know there are issues, pull your child out! It's just not worth it!!

Re: Need to vent: daycare

Even though they are not accredited are they liscensed?
I would assume they have to be.
How are they still operating with a liscense if they have children in a condemned room with no fire exit and have been warned but ignore it?
What are the laws like in regards to daycare centers in your state?
Something must be able to be done?

THIS!

I think you should definitely respond with a simple statement that their email was incorrect and state exactly what happened. I would even consider going in there and speaking to them in person about it.

Re: Need to vent: daycare

I agree with PP. It's very unprofessional and revengeful to send such an email out. I would withdraw DD from the school ASAP.
