Ok, I know the rule. If they get a fever over 101 they must go home. They are not allowed back into daycare for a full 24hrs. Even then it must have been 24hrs without fever and undedicated for a fever (meaning you can’t give them Tylenol and send them back)

I get it. I really do. But I’m so frustrated.

AJ is getting her back molars in. I can see them, they’ve broken through but aren’t fully in. Other than an occasional fever (which SHOCKINGLY only happens after she eats) she’s fine. Their thermometer (which runs a little high, like half a degree) reads her at 101.2 and home she goes.

I can’t keep taking days off work to keep an otherwise happy kid at home. It’s killing me and my poor hubby. We have no one else to care for her. It’s not an option. I don’t trust random strangers (aka a babysitter) so that’s out of the question.

So I called up. She’s teething. She’s acting fine. She’s eating, drinking, laughing, playing, not coughing, no runny nose, no sneezing, not acting tired or exhausted. So in all other ways she’s fine.

I will give her Motrin (generic) and she’s going back to school. WITH the Motrin to be regiven before her nap or after she wakes up but BEFORE her meal. Director was fine with it. But cautious of course. I don’t blame her.

Am I asking too much? I mean if she were 101.5 or 102 I’d stay home but this thermometer is off by a half a degree so I feel 101.2 is not enough to justify a day off of school.
