Homeowner's insurance

Can anyone recommend an insurance company that will write a policy for a home if you own a dog that has bit someone? My dog had a bite incident last summer- it was reported but no money was paid out from my renters insurance. I am having a hard time finding a company and I need the insurance to get my clear to close. HELP!

Have you gone to a broker? One of my former clients is an experienced insurance broker -- I've referred her to other clients who have had a difficult time getting homeowner's insurance, and they've been happy with her.

I agree with Christine...work with a broker. We couldn't find ANYONE to insure us because of our proximity to water so we went to a broker. Took the stress right out of it! They did the leg work of calling around/contacting companies and then just sent us over the quotes.

Some carriers will have you sign a statement excluding the dog from Liability coverage. Please email me if you would like me to get you a quote.

I know with ours, there was a list of certain breeds of dogs that would be excluded from liability.

My broker was finally able to find us an insurance carrier! The policy does not have animal liability and is a bit more expensive but it covers everything else we need.
