4 year old carseat advice??
My son is just 4 years old and I am needing his carseat for my DD who is almost ready to move out of her carrier. I planned on getting him a new carseat and giving the one he is in now to her. There are just too many choices out there and I have no idea where to begin looking.
He is about 36lbs and 44 inches tall. I am looking for something that might last him and not have to buy another one.
Thanks for any and all advice you might have!!

what is he in now? There are a bunch out there now that have harnesses (like the convertible carseats do) BUT then the back can come off when he gets older (so he could just use the bottom of it as a booster with the regular car seat belt) The one I'm thinking of is the Britax Frontier... and I know Graco maes one, too- but can't remember hte name.
something like that would be the last seat you would have to buy for him.

I have my 4 year old in the Graco Nautilus. We're happy with it.

We checked out the Graco Nautilus and Britax Frontier at the store recently for my 4 year old. We haven't put DS1 in the new seat yet because DS2 still fits in the infant carrier. We decided to go with the Frontier. It seemed to be more comfortable for DS1 and seemed that it would last longer.

I have the Nautilus. I say, if you have the $$ for the Britax, go for that. A few things I don't like about the Graco...the buckles are VERY hard to get in; the buckles slide all the way down to the seat, whereas with our Britax seats, there is a little plastic "snap" to prevent it from sliding all the way down, so it is easily accessible, and you're not having to dig for it every time the kid sits down. What a PITA!!! I can snap my DD in her Marathon in a SECOND, but in the Nautilus, it takes at least a full minute. I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but in 20 degree weather, rain, snow, etc, it is!
