IUI and BD
My nurse confused us.. she said if we get a negative opk, to BD. If we get a pos, we should abstain the night before. Is this correct? I thought we would have to abstain for longer before an IUI but she said to BD just in case they miss the surge. Does this sound right?

Never heard that before. I was told at least 24 hour abstinence before IUI. Just keep testing till you get your smiley. One you get the smiley, you get IUI and you can continue to BD for 3 days after that
That's what I was told

That's what my friends Dr said also! 24-36 hrs.. She was like looking me in the eye all serious saying to BD if it's neg to not miss the surge. Now I'm all confused and paranoid at the same time lol

You should abstain 24-48 hours before but some people don't!

IUI and BD
I was told ideally we should abstain from sex for at least 2 days. When we went for the iui and DH had to produce a sample, the form he filled out stated that the office would not accept a sample that hasn't been abstained for atleast 2-7 days. We were told to bd the night of the iui and the day after for good measure, but definetly not before.

If you don't get a smiley today, BD. once you get your smiley you (dont BD) you will have your IUI the next day. You will have Abstained for 24 hrs. It's fine. The 2-7 days is for diagnostic samples not for IUI's. HTH!!
