Need advice before I go for a hair cut..
I have long hair but it just..hangs. It doesn't do much. It's medium body.
What can I suggest to my hair stylist so it still stays long but has some ...movement and style?
I dread going for hair cuts...Even though I love and trust my salon- I get scared.
Any ideas on what to ask for?

ITA. Long layers and some angles around your face would definitely give you some shape and body.

Is there a different between blunt angles and layers?
Like can I just have them towards the bottom of my hair?
I hate how I look with different lengths of hair in the front. I also don't like growing them out. I'm not one to keep up with cuts at all.
This is why I only go once a year--- I'm picky. 
I'm that pain in the ass who says, "hi. I know I have 5 inches of split ends but please only cut 1/4 of an inch".

Need advice before I go for a hair cut..
My layers start at my chin, my overall hair length is below my shoulders. No bangs - I hate them.
I have heavy wavy hair, so the layers help add some movement. Because my hair weighs less now than when I had it all one lenght, it hangs better and curls on the bottom.
The picture I used as reference was Chelsea from Two and a Half Men. (cannot for the life of me remember her name).

honestly - the best way to get what you want is to bring pictures .......
And if your hair is just hanging and you really do have 5 inches of split ends, your best bet is to part with that damaged length - No cut is going to work if younever get rid of the damaged ends.

Need advice before I go for a hair cut..
Have the stylist add long layers that begin below your chin. If you have dead end cut them all off they are contributing to the effect of your hair just hanging there.
