What do you read or say to your baby?
Last friday I had a doc's appt I was 15W1. The doc told me I can start reading and talking to the baby. I was wondering if you ladies do this? if so what do you read? do you read the regular books you are currently reading? How about music? I talk to my LO every morning when I'm getting ready for work but that's it and DH kisses the belly at night and talks a bit to the baby as well but ...I feel a little crazy doing it lol

I don't read to the baby because I talk all day on the phone and to my kids. So the baby hears my voice. DH will give little anecdotes of "Don't eat rocks" or "Hi baby, it's daddy", but that's it. My kids kiss/hug my belly and say hi to the baby and ask "Are you in there baby?"
The baby is going to hear your voice no matter what.

good those are the things I normally say I say hi, I say I love you etc. I am finishing my graduate degree in early childhood and at the beginning I read this book on how important the 9 months in the womb were that's where you should start the nurturing and reading and talking but I can't put myself to read yet. I am starting a journal I think as I write I am going to say it outloud that way it doesn't feel that crazy lol thanks

What do you read or say to your baby?
Starting around where you are now I read to the baby every night before bed. In the beginning I would read one story a night from a big collection. Then, I started reading the same 4 books every night
1. Nighty Night -- A sesame street book
2. Moo, Baa, La La La -- Sandra Boynton
3. Happy Hippo, Angry Duck -- Sandra Boynton
4. The Going to Bed Book -- Sandra Boynton
It was AMAZING when he was born and I recited the books the first night in the hospital. I could see the recognition -- he was so alert and animated.
I felt weird at first too, but then it became our little ritual. I would rub lotion on my belly in circular motions (something I learned in lamaze that is supposed to calm the baby) and recite my books while sitting in my glider in his room. It was a nice routine for me to unwind and for him to hear my voice. I now read other things to him daily, but I still recite those 4 books every night.

I didn't read to tiny tot
I listened to Nine Inch Nails and Drum and Base everyday. She loved it.
When we play it now I dance to it and she thinks it's funny. lol

I listen to my rock music every day on my commute to work and sing in the car lol hopefully I'm not scaring the baby lol

I play him/her music all the time:) I like to sing too so baby is definately used to my voice by now, lol

Ok I feel horrible because I didnt think the baby could hear me yet and I will be 15 weeks tomorrow! We havent talked to the baby yet or read any books or played music, but tonight I will start!

Once I get to that point I'm def. going to be playing more music for the baby rather then reading. I'm a family therapist so the baby will hear my voice enough during the day lol.

I never read or played music. My DS is a chatterbox and dancer so I don't think it made much difference with him.

I talk all day at my job. In the morning when I feel the first kick I say hi
Honestly I'm so tired there is no way I can stay up later and read books LOL
