Hand me down clothing

Ok, looking for some thoughts on this.

I used to hand down some of our girls clothes to local family and friends and sell the rest.

When we found out we were having a boy we traded all of our girls clothes to a friend for all boys clothes.

If it were all of my original clothing I would have no problem handing over and selling some of them, but since I got them from someone else I feel weird selling them? If that makes any sense.

I recently saw that she was selling the stuff I gave her after her daughter grew out of it. While I feel it's ok because technically we traded, it feels odd because I don't feel like I should be selling the stuff I got, i've just been giving it away. I hate it when you see people who get stuff for free and then turn around and make a profit on it if you KWIM.

Any thoughts???

Yeah but she's not really making a profit, she would have done the same had she kept all of her orginal clothing.

Thanks! I was kinda thinking the same thing, but for some reason I just can't seem to bring myself to actually sell the stuff I got from her. Maybe I should.

i sell them mostly on the fb buy sell groups. There are tons of stuff in there. I used to do craigs list, but that was a PITA!

Some stuff i would bring to a consignment store but that also was a PITA. I like the fb pages because i post the pics and people pick what they want. and its local pick up.

I have seen a friend of mine sell clothing that I handed down to her.

It bugged me a bit, but hey I was too lazy to try to sell them, so it's my own loss. And it's not like her daughter didn't use them, she just outgrew them.

So, I didn't know my answer to this, but I just went through a box of clothes and found a note on the bottom of the box. It said, "I hope you can use everything but if you can't, pass on the rest..." so I say selling is a no no...

It would only bother me if it had some sentimental value. I kept all the clothing that was special to me. If it was some random polo vest that my kid never wore, I would not care if she sold it for a few bucks.

I swapped my orbit stroller for a city mini double stroller with a mom from my mom's club. she had an accident 3rd baby and had already given away all her stuff. After her baby was born, I saw her using another infant system. she said the orbit was too heavy for her. I'm sure she sold it. it hurt me, not because she probably got a few hundred dollars but because I brought home both my sons in that stroller and now some stranger has it.

I have done both - I have given away clothes on here and asked the people I have given them to to please pass the ones they don't wanton or give them to someone who really needs them. If they have or not IDK, but I would hope.

I also have sold items that were given to me, and I don't see anything wrong with that. I make sure to sell some and give some away, and that works best for me

If you give away, you give away.

I'm ok with whatever that person does with the items (better to sell than to throw out).

If I can't use, I've offered the items back... And then donated to any service that will pick up from my doorstep. Even so, I get a tax deduction.

But, I know what you mean... And do keep any item with sentimental value. The rest is just cloth.
