how much is you homeowners insurance
I am buying a new house that is significantly larger that the one I own now. I am shopping around for homeowners insurance quotes and there is a large range in what they are looking to charge me.
Can you tell me the approx square footage of your home and how much your policy is per year.

The quote I got today was from Geico at $2,413 per year (the house is approx 3,100 sq ft) and that was with a discount for having auto insurance too.

Under $900 but my house is about half the size. I do have a pool though.

Mine is about 1100 a year, about 3000sf no pool.
It depends on what you amount you are taking the insurance for. You don't need insurance for the full value because land is not really going anywhere, so you need to decide how much rebuilding would cost and personal posessions. That will play a big part in the rates.

Geico has the WORST rates for homeowners. My husband works for the company, and we got a quote, it was well over 2000, this is including car insurance as well. We are def going to be shopping around, I couldn't believe how high that quote was!

We are close to the water (North Shore) and have a buried oil tank, pool. Because we are by the water there are only 2 companies on Long Island that offer insurance.
