Fetal echocardiogram

Has anyone ever gone for one? I have an appt tomorrow as a follow up from the increased nuchal fold and high numbers from AFP test. The 20 week sono looked great and they said there were no markers but as precaution would like us to go for echocardiogram. The doctor said that the more Sonos they get that look good the more they can rule out. So I'm really praying everything looks good tomorrow.
Anyway I assume the test is just a more detailed sono but they said it could take an hour and a half. Just wondering if anyone who has gone for one share their experience.
Thanks

I had one at 23 weeks. Also as a tie-in to having had an increased nuchal fold thickness. It was just like a regular sono, except detailed and you get to hear the heartbeat a lot during it as well. It did take close to an hour if I remember correctly. I believe after the fetal echo, everything was cleared for me at that point. At 30 weeks I started NST and BPP, mainly because I had high blood pressure and GD though!

Fetal echocardiogram

I had one done at 24 weeks due to something they found during our cvs and then amnio. It took about an hour and they measured the heart and brain, checked out the blood flow from the umbilical cord to the baby as well as the brain waves... After the sono tech left a doctor came in and talked to us about the scans.

I had one this pregnancy. It's just a realllllly long, detailed sono, nothing more. Lots of baby time and pictures. Chat Icon

I had one for triplets and was there the whole afternoon :) just a long boring sono (boring because they kept the screen away from me!) but they had snacks and juice so that was something! its such a detailed look, it will definitely give you peace of mind. good luck..
