Would you reschedule?
I am going to be in Florida for a long weekend for my sisters 40th bday trip, which also happens to be over my DS 3rd bday. Yes, I know, bad planning on my part. But I will be home the very next day. So I've been planning on having family over for dinner the day after DS bday to celebrate. This is still a couple of weeks away, but the date has been on the table for the past two weeks. We've told our parents and all of our siblings. My MIL comes over yesterday and in her "play dumb" way she asks when we're planning on celebrating DS bday. I remind her that we're having dinner that Sunday. She goes "oohhh." so of course I ask why and she tells me they got invited to a friends house that night. She then asks if we can do lunch instead, and again I remind her that I won't be home until around 2:30, so no, lunch won't work. She comes over again today and says, "so when are you coming home from Florida?" I reiterate that I'll be home Sunday around 2:00ish. And she says, "oh, wouldn't you rather do it the next week do you don't have to feel rushed?" She's known for weeks that this was the day. She's known for weeks that I was coming home that day and doing the dinner that night. Now all of a sudden, she's worried about making things easier for me?! She obviously wants me to reschedule the dinner. Part of me feels like this is your grandsons bday. She shouldn't even have mentioned another party to me, she should have just declined the second invitation. The other part of me is like eh, what difference will a week make? What do you think? Stick with the original date? Or reschedule?

I personally would keep the date unless something came up with you guys personally, you gave her plenty of notice...if she cant make it oh well would be my opinion on it.

Re: Would you reschedule?
That's exactly how DH and I feel. I just don't want to prove a point at my DS expense, you know?

Re: Would you reschedule?
Nope. My in laws went on a long vacation during DD first birthday. I thought about switching the party date, but then thought again as they did not prioritize my daughter.
The funny thing is, I wasn't surprised.

Re: Would you reschedule?
nope. sure would not
My mom was going to miss ds's party for work and I had to make a thing of it so she knew how important it was- do you think maybe your dh would talk to her? Sometimes, I think people just don't realize
