Got in a Car Accident Today - UPDATE
Sorry, this is going to be a long one. So I was driving to VT today for work and was on a 2 lane stretch of I-91 not too far into VT that wasn't plowed well at all. On top of that, it was freezing sleet and almost my entire windshield was frozen over making visibility very poor. The entire hood of my car, both mirrors, front headlights, and front of the car were entirely frozen over.
My car completely spun out in the snow!!! I've never been so scared in my life. I tried pressing on the brakes but that seemed to make it worse so I just eased up and didn't press on the gas or brakes. I was spinning from side to side, doing almost 360 degree turns. I finally managed to straighten out but my driver's side hit the guard rail.
The worst part is that I was on an overpass/bridge part of the road and thought I was going to go through the guard rails into the embankment or water below. I literally thought I wasn't going to make it and all I kept thinking about was the baby and praying, repeating oh god over and over. Luckily, no one was in front of or next to me, just behind me, or I would've definitely hit someone and things would have been so much worse.
I didn't even stop for about an hour to an hour and a half. There was nowhere to stop and I wasn't going to pull over on the side of a 2 lane snowy road with tractor trailer trucks and cars driving by. I tried calling DH but couldn't get through and he called me back after a few minutes and did his usual great job of calming me down.
I'm at the hotel now and think I'm in shock and can't stop crying. I really think I had a guardian angel looking out for me and LO today.
Please, please everyone be safe driving! I would not wish today on anyone.
UPDATE - so I took everyone's advice and called my obgyn. I honestly wasn't going to because I felt fine. You were all correct in that I was told to go the hospital to get checked out.
Everything seems fine, thank god! Heard the baby's heartbeat and it was good. Had blood drawn. They wanted to make sure I wasn't RH negative or otherwise I would've been given the Rhogam shot. I wasn't so we were good to go.
I feel very relieved and very tired. I'm exhausted and spent both physically and emotionally. I'm going to take it easy tomorrow and just work from the hotel. I have to say the hospital staff were unbelievable and just so kind. Everyone was super nice, no wait, I was seen right away, and given an explanation of everything. Very different than what I've encountered in NY unfortunately.
DH was great and offered to come up tomorrow but seeing as it took me over 7 hours to drive here and the roads were awful, I told him to stay home.
Thank you all so much for encouraging me to call my dr and for the kind words and good wishes!!! I will sleep with peace of mind tonight.

OMG!!! I am glad you are OK! Did you call your doctor and see if they want you to go to an ER up there???

That is seriously scary!!! Please get checked out as soon as you can! Glad it wasn't any worse though, I can only imagine how you felt worrying about going over the guardrail!!

I got into a relatively minor accident a couple of weeks ago and they sent me right to labor and delivery. I would call your MD and see. So happy you are ok!!

I agree...I would get checked out. I was in a minor accident and my high risk dr had me come in even though I was feeling the baby etc.

Glad everything worked out... I grew up in Alaska and had things like this happen, (not pregnant). Just an fyi for future notice, pump your breaks very slowly and hold the steering wheel straight. It's the only way to slow you down on ice. I can't imagine this happening while pregnant, thank god you are okay...
