Does your DC act differently when your DH is babysitting?

I went out the other night and my husband text me the kids are sleeping be quite when you come in. It was 7:45pm. When I'm home they don't go to bed until about 8:30/9. He said they don't even whine or give him a hard time, he puts my DD in her crib with no problem and then DS just lays on the couch and went to sleep. When I'm home they just want to keep playing and never want to go to bed. They whine and give me such a hard time. I don't know what his trick is, because he said he doesn't do anything different then when I put them to sleep. I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

DS will be 6 weeks on Tuesday. DH swears he only sleeps for me. I can give DS a bottle and then he goes right to sleep. DH says that he is always fussy when he watches him. I think it's because DH gets a little nervous with DS.

My poor DH is convinced our 9-wk old DD highly dislikes him. Her fussy period is unfortunately when he gets home from work through when she goes to bed so he rarely sees her in a good mood. Then on weekends, she's fussier than during weekdays, I think because DH tries to help with her but is still anxious/apprehensive about how to act around her, which she senses. I hope she will eventually be the happy baby she is for me for him as well!

Yes dd is 21/2 and is usually different for him. She gives me hard time about going to bed up and down blah blah blah and when I'm not here she's pretty good for him. Not always but most times.

Re: Does your DC act differently when your DH is babysitting?

OMG THIS IS EXACTLY ME!!!

DS is at home with DH during the day while I go to work. I get home around 3pm then I take over and DH goes to work but I am with DS on the weekends since Im off. Whenever I get home DS is sleeping. I ask DH how long hes been sleeping for, he says 2hrs. On the weekends I am home with DS all day. He doesnt take his first nap until 4-5pm and sometimes he doesnt even take a nap. All he wants to do is play. I just dont get it. I try to put him to sleep around 12-1pm the time DH normally does and it doesnt work out. I ask DH and he just says, "Yea, he just cries for about a min or so then he falls asleep"

Im really tempted to put a camera to see whats going on...

Yes. I tease my dh that I should go out every night as he gets them to sleep earlier than I do.

They act the same for both of us. And I don't consider it babysitting when it's your own children Chat Icon They have a solid, consistent bedtime routine that's been in place since my 2nd was an infant and that really helps.

This! Kids have the same bed time/routine regardless of which one of us is home. They do behave differently for DH, MY oldest has him whipped, but the routine is the same.

And, it is definitely not babysitting when DH is watching. It's not babysitting when I'm watching, same goes for him.

Yes, this for us too. No difference and we've always had routines in place for everything since DD was an infant. Nothing changes whether she's with me or DH. Chat Icon

Yes!!! My 2.5 dd acts so differently around my dh! She listens to him, never whines or throws tantrums with him. I think it's mainly because I'm home all day and he only sees her awake during the week for less than 2 hrs a day.

Yes! DD is 10 months and I feel like she definitely sleeps more and longer with DH. He's with her during the day and I come home around 4 and he works nights. On the weekends she's raring to go and takes the shortest naps. All she wants to do is play with me.

Yes! My DS is an angel when he is home with DH. DH always says how he doesn't whine or cry and goes right in for his naps. Is unreal!

I don't consider my husband a babysitter. I meant when my kids are left alone with him. We also have the same bed time routine every night. We do everything exactly the same way. It's just I think they know I'm a push over.

Does your DC act differently when your DH is babysitting?

My 3 year old gives my DH hell when its just the two of them...he actualyl calls me and complains about everything his dad is doing wrong...in my DHS defense tho he works like 70 hours a week so he is with me 90% of the time and i guess is use to how we do things

When it's getting close to bedtime, we turn out lights in living room. Then they only have a few min more of playing. We hold cuddle for few min/read books...then straight to crib. My kids are up around 6:30am & bedtime 7:30

Same but older DS acts different if I am not there. He talks to me a lot at bedtime and he knows dh won't put up with that. He chooses who he feels is the weakest link to put him to bed.
