Adjusting to daycare

Gonna try to make sense.
DS is almost 17 months old (14 months adjusted) and has been in daycare 4 days a week since June. Before that he was home with me or watched by a family member. He's been in the same daycare. When I drop him off in the morning he acts like he has never been there before. He looks at the providers in shock and then looks back at me. He does not get upset and according to the provider within a few minutes he is down on the floor and getting into his routine. When I get there in the afternoon to pick him up he is thrilled and can't get to me fast enough.
I guess my question is should he be more excited to see them at this point? It just seems like he is indifferent and I would feel better if he was excited to be at daycare.

no advice. ds was ok with infant room then fought the toddler room drop off. he seemed ok when we picked him up, but various times we picked him up we were disturbed with his safety. when we switched daycares he didnt fight me on th drop off... I did see a couple kids at the new school give their parent grief on drop off but the school had been great, so I'm thinking maybe they have that issue from the start

DS was at a home day care from 6 weeks to 14 months. He was the same was at the daycare center. It was so hard on me. I used to have to bring a snack and sit him facing the wall so I could leave without tears. As long as he's ok in a few minutes he's fine. DS was the same way picking him up too. It gets worse when they talk and throw temper tantrums and cling to you or go limp. Enjoy this!

DD is 15 months and has been in daycare since she was 10 weeks old. As she has gotten older she does not "want" to go in the morning. I wake her at 630 so she is tired. When we get there she will go to them easily and does not cry but if I stand there too long she wants to come back to me. Drop off is no more than 5 minutes, usually less. When I pick her up she looks at me excitedly, smiles, waves and turns around to go back to playing! lol.

ETA: She is def. not excited to see them. I think it is way too early for her to be excited about anything.

Both DS are full time at daycare and give me a hard time when I leave but other parents report to me how happy they are when thry drop their kids off.

It's normal for them to be upset at drop off.

DS just switched rooms...in the old room he loved the teacher and would go to her. Now when DH drops him off he is fine, but when i do he cries. He is happy to see me when i pick him up and comes right over. I'm thinking right now its more of a mommy thing because he is super attached lately.
