BTDT moms, if your DCs size was big for their age from early on...

I'm trying to decide if I should get DD a snowsuit and maybe some winter clothes for next winter now while they're marked down. She turns one in October so she'll probably need winter stuff until she's about 18 months. But so far she's big, mostly in length, for her age so I'm not sure what size to get her. She's growing out of her size 9 month sleep&plays and she's not even four months yet. So I was thinking of getting her size 24 months for next winter, but I'm wondering could she even be too big for that by then? I know every child grows differently, I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. I'd like to get her some stuff now while it's in sale but I'm thinking maybe should I just wait until next winter to see what size she'll actually be? What comes after size 24 months? Is there anything between that and 2T? Or are those the same thing?

It is hard still for me to get for next year, because their growth does plateau at some point. DS2 is 17 months, and has been in the same size for like 6 months.

Do you know her height and weight now?

No, nothing in between 24 months and 2T, at least not in the stores I shop at.

Its SO hard to tell. My girls are small now but Idk if they will shoot up in height come one year in Oct. I debated about sizing of denim skirts in ON for like 10 mins the other day. I ended up getting 12/18 mo for them to wear next fall but at this rate they might be in 9 mo. I'd go bigger for a snowsuit if she is big now though. Like 24 mo or 2T for height? It would depend on the brand too. Some are cut bigger. The newborn size Patagonia snowsuit is really huge on my girls but they wear 3 mo clothes.

She was in the 90th percentile for height at her 3 month well visit. I'll find out her current height and weight next week at her 4 month visit. I was thinking maybe she just went though a big growth spurt and will plateau at some point but I guess there's no way to really tell. DH and I are somewhat tall, but we do have some very tall relatives, so maybe she'll get her height from them.

It is SO hard to predict.... seriously.... my DD was at the very high end for weight since about 4mos old. It slowed down a LOT. she was over 23lbs at 8 mos, and now at 15 mos she is still a little under 25 lbs (yet still above average)! Her height, on the other hand, shot up. Her body shape just completely changed. I never would have been able to predict, lol. So IMO, i'd hold off.

If she turns one in October, I would just get a snowsuit in 18-24 months. It should be big anyway, so I would even go up to 24 if I were you. For other winter stuff, I would get the same, 18-24..you figure she will use winter stuff from Oct/Nov-April in some cases like sweaters and stuff...so if too big, you have the chance it will fit her in the late winter/Spring.

It's been extremely difficult for me to gauge pant sizes from one year to the next with my boys bc they grow so much. Last year, I bought my youngest 2T snow pants thinking they would be perfect & he's between a 3T-4T this year. I paid $5 so I was not overally upset but I will not buy bulk. I just go season to season now.

My Ds's are both big for their age! DS1 has always been at least 95% for height.

with that my MIL always buys my kids winter coats for the next year at end of season sales. You wont get prices in October (for example) like you will in March on a winter coat! My MIL usually goes to macys and buys a $60+ jacket for $10!

So far we havent had any issues. I would go with a 2T. at the very least you will get at least a few months out of it and then if you need to get a new one you can hit great after christmas sales.
