Weaning?

Do you gradually decrease the number of nursings or go cold turkey? I currently nurse 3x a day but Im ready to stop when DS turns 1, but not sure exactly how to go about it

Re: Weaning?

I gradually decreased 1 feeding at a time. I left the pm before bed feeding as the last. At 12 months we were down to just one feeding and at 14 months we were both ready to completely wean. Good luck!

Re: Weaning?

Just started weaning DD2 this weekend (she'll be 9 months Saturday). Yeah, just cut out one feeding at a time for as long as you feel comfortable. I kinda NEED to be done by next week bc I'm traveling for work and pumping will be too difficult to keep up with. It's only been 2 days of one less feeding and I already feel like my breasts aren't filling up as much. I'm going to nurse her am and pm till the weekend, then a few days of only pm, then that's it. This weaning schedule worked out pretty well with DD1.
