Moms Pregnant with number 2,3 etc Question
When you get closer to your due date what is your plan with your child at home?? My parents will come up by me but what if my water breaks during the night etc. Do I have them stay a few days before I'm due? I'm delivering vaginal so it can happen at anytime with DD my water broke at 10pm at night. My parents live on the island about 25-30 mins away from us. What are you doing? Or BTDT mom what did you do? Did you discuss the plan with whoever is going to watch your child while you go into labor.

Re: Moms Pregnant with number 2,3 etc Question
When I went into labor with #2, it was around 2:30 am. My parents had already known I had been having contractions that day, so we told them to be prepared.
When I woke up with contractions, I timed them, called the doctor (who told me to go to the hospital), then called my parents (DH called his mom). They picked up my MIL (who doesn't drive) and came over to my house while I was taking a shower. They live 15 min away, but figure 25 minutes by the time they got dressed and got MIL.
When they arrived at my house, I was already in the driveway impatiently and painfully waiting for them. They went into my house and stayed with DS while off we went. My mom went back to sleep, my dad and MIL watched tv. At around 6:30 am, we called the house and let them know the status, they planned on being up to the hospital around 7/7:30, or when DS woke up, and brought him up there as well.
This time around, with two kids, we plan on doing the same thing, but leaving my car behind bc it has the kids' carseats. Since not all 3 of them will fit in my car, my mom or dad will have to drive the kids and the other one will have to drive my mil (unless she wants to squeeze in the backseat-which she probably will).
It will be a game of car shuffle the day of, but basically, my parents will have my kids until DH can take over.

Moms Pregnant with number 2,3 etc Question
I started going into labor in the middle of the night too. i wasn't sure but I called my parents and they came over - they live over an hour away and I knew even if it wasn't labor, I wasn't in any shape to take care of my toddler in the morning and dh was at work.
My mom brought me to the hospital around 9am and dh met me there on his way from work.

I think you could totally do this, unless you're crowning or your baby comes in the middle of the night.
I think you have to have some plans in your head for starters, but just realize you might have to wing it too. I'm sure everything will work out.

I'll have a c-section once my water breaks or labor starts. We have an Uncle on standby to come to the house to watch DS. I also gave school his info. as emergency contact etc...

Re: Moms Pregnant with number 2,3 etc Question
Not exactly sure what to do and this is my fear.
I have no family here in boston all on LI so the closet is bout 4 hrs away haha.
I have a few friends that say I can call them, no matter the time but I feel bad b/c they have kids as well.
My fil says he will leave the moment we call him.
With dd I started contractions around 12am. We timed them and by 3 am they were very close together and by the time we drove to the hospital, literally 5 mins away, I couldn't talk or breathe. But I didn't have until 5:30 that night so 16 hours of labor, 4 of them pushing.
I am guessing I will have a little more time this time b/c I know what to expect.
My friend says, you know to wait with your second one
I plan on talking to my babysitter tht we use and hope to have "on call" too

Oh Denise, you know my story with Aaron. This time around I am not taking any chances. If I feel anything, we are going straight to the hospital.
Our plan is to have our neighbor (who are also good friends of ours) to come over and they will stay with the boys until either one of the grandparents get there.
Yes, we asked our neighbor and they are fine with us calling anytime of day or night, they know what happened with Aa.
I am paranoid now, my worst fear is having what happened last time happen again.

Re: Moms Pregnant with number 2,3 etc Question
My parents are about a half hour away. I would hope they would have enough time to get to my house. My dad would probably stay with the kids and sleep and my mom would probably come with us. Not exactly sure.
We have very close friends that live 5 blocks away so if need be we could call them but she is pregnant with her second too and due 2 weeks after me.

I don't even have a plan yet! Still not sure if I will go VBAC or C-section so will make that a medical decision closer in and go from there.

Re: Moms Pregnant with number 2,3 etc Question
I'm a scheduled c-section, so we have set plans on how it will play out. My father will come over super early in the morning and be there for my son when he wakes up. He'll prob feed him breakfast. Then my mom will come and get him dressed and maybe they all go back to their house to wait until we call them. They will bring my son to the hospital.
But seeing as how I'm on bedrest and can go at any time, the plan is to call my parents what ever time I need them and my father will come over and stay with my son til the morning. They live one town over. Then same plan as above.
However it all plays out, I'm very thankful that my parents live so close (or that we chose to buy a house so close to them ) and how much I can rely on them to help me out.
