RE appointments and Work
Did you tell anyone at your job that you were going through fertility treatments?
I feel I may have to mention something to my coworker or manager when I start having to go for early monitoring and am constantly coming in late. I know my coworker will be thrilled (she just had a baby and is always telling me to get "knocked up" ), but my manager *might* give me a hard time. I'm sure I could make up some excuses for the next few weeks, but I also don't want to jepordize my employment. I'm having such a moral dilemma right now!

RE appointments and Work
I hope to not tell anyone. My RE said I will be able to schedule early morning monitoring so I will go in at like 6 30 am so I can make it to work on time. If I had to bring it up to my boss I would say I am going through something medically. When I had things done I would say I am having a procedure done... If you feel comfortable with your coworker and you start coming in late a lot you might want to mention something....Its a hard decision.

Re: RE appointments and Work
I'm def going to try and not tell my employer. Unfortunately I had to cancel my last patient next week because of my HSG so I know questions are going to arise. I'm going to also try and keep my appts really early and hope it works out. I know a girl in my last office told the boss flat out and he was 100% understanding letting her come in late some days. Sometimes bosses understand.

I would definitely mention something as it will ease your stress. My mgr knows I'm having something medically done but not exactly IVF. The only problem about having early appointments is that they don't have them. It's unpredictable about when you are going in and they are making appointments on the fly. "Come back in two days, come back tomorrow" and the next open appointment is at 8:45. At least that is what happened for me the 10days of stimming and then the retrieval today. I still don't know what time my 3dt is for on Sunday and its possibly Tuesday and I don't have a time. Good luck whatever you decide.

I never told my boss directly. I just told him I had to go to the doctor. I am pretty confident, he thought I was dying... Seeing as how I never took time off, he didn't ask any further questions.

Re: RE appointments and Work
I haven't and don't plan on telling my job. I go to my appts at 6:45am and get to work for 8:30. So far so good

Re: RE appointments and Work
At the start of my journey, I played it off like I just had doctor appointments but was very nonspecific. Eventually, my principal (I was a teacher) asked if everything was ok and he seemed genuinely concerned. I didn't want him to think anything was seriously wrong, so I told him what was going on. I was VERY lucky because he was so supportive. He told me how much he was hoping for some good news and how important it is that I take care of that part of my life. He let me come and go anytime I had an appt that I needed to work around. When I had my loss in the 2nd tri, the entire building seemed to come together to support me once I returned to work. It was a wonderful thing. I say be open .. but that's just based on MY positive experience. I guess really you just need to feel out your boss and decide what's best for your own situation. Good luck!

Re: RE appointments and Work
Thanks for the responses
I will probably end up mentioning it to my coworker but try to avoid having this talk with my manager. Normally I would be open and honest with him, but he made a joke when she came back from maternity saying "well I'm glad we don't have to go through THAT again for a while" (regarding her 12 week leave). Since then I've been nervous to say anything.

Re: RE appointments and Work
I work for a smaller company and family owned so it was easier.... pre testing is a no brainer and no one at work knows I am there at 7 and back in enough time to be at work on time.
BUT, i did tell my boss's wife, who she works with us, this way it was a women to women conversation and i know she would tell her husband who is my boss. When i go for the IUI its about a 40 minute drive back and fourth and i know i will be in a few hours late.
it did ease the pressure a bit, and explains my tardy

Re: RE appointments and Work
I told my employer because I knew that some of the appointments were going to be short notice and I wanted them to know why I was taking time off or coming in late. It's hard for them to find coverage for me, and I didn't want them to get angry. I didn't know how i was going to feel after so I took off for the HSG, the endo bx, and my first 2 IUIs; Also, the first apmnts they have at my RE are 730 and even though they are quick, I have to be to work at 8 so sometimes I'm a few minutes late. Luckily my boss has been extremely understanding and accommodating :)

Re: RE appointments and Work
I had no reason to mention it to work b/c I'd actually get to work earlier in the day when I had an RE monitoring appt than if I were coming in straight from home. I'd just go to the RE around 7am and be at work by 8am.

Re: RE appointments and Work
I work in a small office, there's only 3 of us - me, the doctor and the biller, both of them know everything. I know I'm going to have to take off 3 days for IVF ( 1 for withdrawal and 2 for transfer) so I have to make sure that the other woman in my office will be in those days.

RE appointments and Work
I told my boss immediately. Made it easier when I was running late especially since appts don't always run on time.

Re: RE appointments and Work
all of my RE appts were before work so I was able to not say anything, however scheduling the IUI's were tough, my first IUI, i made up i had a last min doc appt. I got pregnant on my 2nd IUI which fell on a weekend thankfully. Eventually I am sure I would have had to say something though if it didn't work.
