classmate bday party ?

dd literally started school YESTERDAY! We got an email yesterday for a bday party fro a kid in the class for THIS Sat. She invited the whole class and wanted to invite us and another new student as well. Not sure what to do. I appreciate wanting to include us and it is very nice.

I feel on one hand it's weird if we go since we have only gone 1 and tomorrow will be or 2nd day.

I feel bad not going b/c it was such a nice gesture to include us but is it weird to go? Does it make us sound desperate hahaha to make friends? It's at her MIL's house so it's not like a head count for a place kwim?

You should totally go. I think it is a great way to meet the other families.

Bday parties are the way we became friendly with the other families at school.

I don't think it's weird - it's a nice way to get to know people at the school. DS has been at the same daycare now for almost 3 years and I know some of the parents well but, I feel that parties are a good opportunity to see and meet other parents.

Why would it be strange to go. I would think it would be the perfect opportunity to meet the other paremts and for your DC to feel part of her new class. If it was my child I would go if I was free and didn't have other plans. I think it was nice that they included the new people and not just the old ones. How old is your DD? Does she want to go?

She's 2 1/2. It was VERY nice of them to include us at the last minute. I am very happy about it. I just wasn't sure if it was weird b/c it was so last min.
