Good question. DD spits up, but we don't think it's anything excessive. One of her teachers at daycare said she "spits up a lot" whatever a lot is. Is your DD screaming when it happens? Or is she fussy? My DD is perfectly fine. I'm leaning towards it's normal because the esophagus/stomach connection doesn't close normally until they are about a year.

If the child is not gaining weight is what my doctor told me could be a sign of reflux.
First, they would change formulas and sometimes give meds.

If they aren't gaining. 2-4 times a week probably won't affect them. My dd was spitting up ENTIRE bottles once a day. Sometimes more and she still gained. Her issue was reflux I think. I think she got scared from wet burps then spit up the rest. I would just calm her when she had a wet burp and she pretty much stopped doing it. Her system is also more mature now. She always did it right after she ate.

as long as their not losing wt and continue to grow its more of a laundry issue. They do make a thickened formula - AR which I hear works well

My son spit up multiple times a day. The ped wasn't concerned as long as he was gaining weight and not uncomfortable. He was a "happy spitter." Once we started solids it pretty much stopped.
