Took my DD to Disney on Ice when she was just over 2 and she loved it. I think it depends on the kid more than the age per se.

What age to start bringing kids to live shows?

We just took the kids to see YGG Live in December. DS is 2.5 and DD is 11 months old and they both loved it and sat through the whole show no problem.

I took my DD to Sesame St live for her 1st birthday and Disney on Ice when she was 14 months. She sat well for most of it. Just got antsy during the last 10 minutes. I really feel like she enjoyed it.

We are taking her to Yo Gabba Gabba live the end of this month (She'll be 16 months) and I think she is going to love that the best because she is obsessed with Gabba.

Re: What age to start bringing kids to live shows?

we got free tix for disney on ice last week- I never would have taken DS otherwise. He's 2 and he was absolutely perfect- first 1/2 did not move a muscle, then intermission came and we walked around, second 1/2 he danced the whole time but still never tried to get out of our area

we are now going to sesame street live in feb.

Took my son to Sesame Street Live last year at almost 16 months...yeah, no. My DH had to take him out before intermission. My 6.5 and almost 5 year old DDs and I sat through the rest without them. My 6 year old found it very predictable. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon (BTW, we took her to the same show at 2.5 and she was fine.)

I *think* my son would be ok now at 26 months, but honestly, I'm just not sure...

We did Sesame Street Live when Ann was about 20 months and she had more fun in the lobby before hand. She was bored for the show and didn't really want to sit.

We took DS for his 2nd B-day to Fresh Beat and he had a ball!!! We are also taking him to Yo Gabba this month.

IMO I would not take him to a movie, someplace quiet but a concert where he can move around, sing, etc.. is sooooo much fun for him Chat Icon

I think it depends on the kid. Before 1 DD was able to sit through shows. She has been to 6 live shows (she is 19 months now) and has been perfect for all of them - either sat and watched or got up and danced.

My coworker has a daughter the same age and he says no way she could sit through a show.

we do a lot of the local theatre shows. We started bringing DD around 12 months. Her first show was blues clues and I think it was about an hour and a half. I only go (even now at 4 1/2) if I can get front row. I feel like if we are further back she wouldn't stay interested.

We are seeing Pinkalicious at the Oakdale theatre tomorrow and we are front row! I ordered the tickets months ago, lol

Re: What age to start bringing kids to live shows?

Totally depends on the kid.

Ds1 went to the wiggles and the circus before turning 2 and was great.
Ds2 I wouldn't buy tix for now at 20m BC he is a wild card. We took him to the Grinch at msg and he was fantastic! We only took him BC we had no sitter and didn't have to buy him a ticket. But I really would be nervous about taking him BC he can be super good or screaming and climbing all over!

You really can only judge by your child's personality!
