IUI at University Plaza Obstetrics?
Question for you I haven't done an IUI there, but does your insurance allow a certain # with an OB before you have to see an RE?

How long have you been TTC?
I personally wouldn't waste my time and money doing IUIs with an OB. REs specialize in this and will do more thorough testing and monitoring than an OB.

This is the reason why I asked the question I asked regarding insurance. You may be better off in the long run just seeing an RE. Good Luck

I am working with Dr. Kofinas. He is a perinatologist. I saw him during my last pregnancy, which was not successful. Between him and my prior doctor I have had extensive testing. Bloodwork out the wazoo, HSG, hysteroscopy, etc. I have PCOS, a luteal phase defect, and three genetic issues.

IUI at University Plaza Obstetrics?
Oh TTC going on three years. I got pregnant in July in my second round of clomid. I am now on my second medicated cycle after the twin demise. I am in 150mg clomid, metformin, baby aspirin, b6 b12, Eskimo fish oil, ic pearl, prenatals. Ovidrel to trigger, and then lovenox and prometrium after I ovulate.

This! Dr Cafaro is my Ob and is great! He did an emergency CS with my twins and my 2nd CS with my DS. I trust him 100% completely. However, that being said, I would not do an IUI with him or Dr Rosenberg. I would see an RE. Maybe get some testing done through them because it doesn't count towards your Fertility Dr with insurance. But all monitoring i agree 100% should be done through an RE.

The monitoring is being done by Kofinas, not by Cafaro.

SAME HERE! I used them to deliver but I would not use them for that purpose for many reasons .

THIS EXACTLY... Ive been a patient of Cafaro since my DS 2009 and love him dearly...
with that being said ...OB/GYN's help you DURING A PREGNANCY, Kofinas helps you SUSTAIN the pregnancy and RE's GET YOU PREGNANT...
Dont waste time doing an IUI with them as they do not monitor your IUI cycles as closely as an RE would (routine sonos, measuring follicles, blood work, HCG triggers, etc.)
Ive been down the fertility road for 5+ years and had 3 of my 11 IUI's done with the office...hindsight it was a waste
Good Luck

IUI at University Plaza Obstetrics?
Kofinas is doing all of what you mentioned? I am so confused now. I saw Kofinas when pregnant with twins. Now I am not pregnant trying to get pregnant. He is handling all of my medication (clomid, metformin, baby asprin, b6/b12, prometrium), I am in his office every other day from day 10 through ovulation (I was there Christmas Eve, day after Christmas, etc.). They count and measure follicles, decide when to do ovidrel based on size. He also does my blood draw every other day from day 10 on. He prescribed lovenox and I do the shots every day from day I ovulate onward.
I am not trying to be argumentative. I am just trying to understand. What else does the RE do? What am I missing?
Kofinas is the one that would continue to monitor everything pre and post IUI, with whoever does the procedure, but he himself does not do.

Re: IUI at University Plaza Obstetrics?
I am shocked that Kofinas would have you do the IUI with an Ob. His brother is an RE, so I would think he would at least refer you to him.
