Disney

We wanted to go to Disney this summer, but we are expecting a baby in July, so we have to put off that trip...our choices are to go in December, between Christmas and New Years (for less than a week) or to wait until next summer and go for a week then. We are staying off premises either way, probably at Orange Lake, the Vistana, or Bonnet Creek. What would you do?

If you are not staying onsite do not go the week between Christmas and New Years. It is crazy then and not unheard of for the parks to go into their levels of closure. The 1st level they close to is offsite guests. To get in you would have to be there wellbefore rope drop and be stuck in the parks. The waits are crazy. If you can go another time I wouls suggest it. What about going Feb break? Still crowded but not as much as spring break or Christmas.

Can you go earlier in Dec? Are you locked into school breaks?

If so then I would pick summer. It will be hot and crowded but not as crowded and longer park hours, and could celebrate a 1 year birthday instead. Is this your only child? If so you will have more fun with a 1 year old than 5 or 6 month old baby.

Re: Disney

I'm locked into school breaks...I'm a teacher and I won't pull my kids out of school at this point. I have a 5 and 4 year old and then the new baby. We are going with my parents, so the age of the baby isn't a huge concern. The heat isn't a huge concern either, as we usually go during the last 2 weeks of August. I'd prefer not to go during a school break, but we would have liked to see Disney decorated for Christmas.

We're leaning towards waiting simply because we would like to use the pool areas and we can stay down for a longer period of time.

No you should have to pull I was just thinking of alternatives.

Christmas is a nice time and the decorations are great. You can do it with a lot of planning. But most will say it probably isn't worth it if you stay off site bc you might not make it in a park. Also lines willbe very long which is ok with older kids but harder on young ones.

I think it is a good choice to pick summer. Then at least you can enjoy the pools as well. And you will want midday breaks with the baby and maybe the others in the heat. So going for longer lets you take a more relaxed trip.

I would go in the Summer since Christmas /New Years is crazy busy, and you probably wouldn't even get in staying offsite, like the other poster said.
